Your friendly neighborhood alt rock group is back and better than ever! The Wrecks’ ‘Out Of Style‘ dropped March 20th and it is a banger! The band has been an up and coming name in the indie/alternative rock scene and ‘Out of Style’ is helping them to further carve out a name for themselves.
The Wrecks started in 2015 with the release of their debut EP We Are The Wrecks. In true rock n’ roll fashion, they snuck into a recording studio to record the EP. While we here at TheHoneyPop don’t condone sneaking in to places, we gotta say, that’s a pretty bad-ass move. And it paid off! The Wrecks’ popularity has only continued to grow since then. They’ve toured with bands like All Time Low, New Politics, and Paramore and released Panic Vertigo following their first EP. Their growth only continues with this new song, and their anticipated debut album!

‘Out Of Style’ follows the same classic sound that fans have come to love. It fuses some pretty intense electric guitar, a catchy, headbanging chorus, and some sassy, sarcastic bordering on spoken word verses.
The lyrics and tone of the song repeatedly speak to the messy end of a relationship. “When did love go out of style?” asks leader singer Nick Anderson in the chorus. Some of the iconic lyrics of the song in our opinion are:
“Heard you’re pregnant
That’s cool I guess
But can you make your whole room glow three different shades of red?”
It sets the song up as having an almost petty quality, like you’re reacting to how the person on the other end of the split is doing. Like, oh you’re doing great? Well guess what I’m doing better! (Whether that may be true or not.) We’ve all been there. We want the feeling of moving on better than the other person has, no matter how petty that feeling is. The Wrecks’ ‘Out of Style’ manages to perfectly capture that feeling with this song.
The band’s debut album is expected to come out some time in 2020 and if ‘Out Of Style’ is any indication of what to expect from the album, we can’t wait! They were also set to tour with The Driver Era in Spring but seeing as most concerts and tours have been postponed, you’ll just have to wait for the updated dates.
