If like us, you’re finding it hard to find things to pass the time at the moment, so look no further! We have started a series of things you can watch, read, and listen to while self-isolating to help you! In this edition, we have got some movie suggestions for you. Some that you may have heard of, other ones you may not have added to your Netflix list, just yet. So check out the trailers and what we have to say, and who knows, you may just discover your new favorite movie!?
They say revenge is best served cold, and imagine serving it with the perfect crime? Gone Girl as a book, and as a movie is complex, thrilling and one hell of a whirlwind that will take you on a journey as a fly on the wall where you will be searching for answers and having your mind filled with questions at the same time. Smart, captivating, and an exceptional cast, including Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. This movie is everything you would expect and nothing you would expect all at once!
Always Be My Maybe
This Netflix original is wholesome, delightful, and witty! Imagine seeing a flash from the past, your best friend, and first, kinda love. Trying to reconnect as friends and revisit those old feelings. Are those feelings still there? Is there a spark to reignite? You will have to watch this rom-com in all its beauty to find out.
As Good As It Gets
What if this is As Good As It Gets? A question many of us ask, in many different circumstances. However, in this movie, it is done with comedy, hope, love, and the overcoming of some very difficult obstacles. As we see the lead character with his OCD, try to improve and become a better man but not without insults, sass, and humor along the way. With the cast including Helen Hunt, Jack Nicholson, Greg Kinnear, and Cuba Gooding Jr., this movie is stellar in both its delivery, message, and ability to take you into it’s world!
“I’m smart, you’re dumb, I’m big and your small, I’m right and your wrong, and there’s NOTHING you can do about it!” But what if you could? What if you were smart, and what if you COULD do something about it? This adaption of the Roald Dahl classic children’s novel has a comedic twist and delights with its mischievous adventures, and despite being a children’s movie will have people of all ages laughing along and rooting for Matilda as she battles the wills of her stubborn family and the awful Miss Trunchbull.
The Shawshank Redemption
This is a film that everyone should see at least once. You see Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), not your typical prisoner go through the prison life alongside Red (Morgan Freeman) and other inmates. Then witness the perils and dark times alongside obstacles they overcome and then without giving too many spoilers the light that can be found at the end of the tunnel. This isn’t the average story we have come to expect from Stephen King, but one thing is for certain it is one of his finest pieces of work, in our opinion!
One thing is for certain The Boy Brahms is not one to be underestimated in this chilling horror-suspense movie. If you are a sucker for a scary movie, this film may fill that gap. At first, being asked to be a nanny for what appears to be a doll may seem weird and creepy but an easy job, right? Well, let’s just say Brahms is not your average doll!
The Silence Of The Lambs
Part of a book and movie series, The Silence Of The Lambs is probably the most famous in this series, and deservingly so. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins provide stellar performances and encapsulate their roles to perfection as Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter. If you enjoy a crime-thriller with a twist, criminal profiling, iconic and historic movie quotes, and love the suspense of not knowing the outcome and guessing along the way, then this film has all of this and more! The prequel Red Dragon is also incredible!
In times where we are left in limbo, not knowing what is going to happen next, a bit of comedy can certainly lift our spirits. Stepbrothers is one of those films. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are hilarious as they come together as soon to be, ‘Stepbrothers’ that loathe one another and the craziness that ensues is a great distraction from what is going on in the world right now!
So, those were eight of our picks from a HUGE selection on Netflix, and if you haven’t seen any of them, we highly recommend you do! Do you have any suggestions for a future article that we should include? Let us know in the comments below, or send us a tweet to @TheHoneyPop!
