Meet Your March Madness Winner: Monsta X!

Meet Your March Madness Winner: Monsta X!

KPOP group Monsta X are one of the hottest boy groups in KPOP at the moment. But if you are new to KPOP or simply haven’t really come across the group yet, you might not know much about them.. This is why we’ve decided to write up a guide on the group which will help you to get to know the group and all of the members!

MONSTA X consists of 7 members: Shownu, Jooheon, Wonho, Kihyun, Minhyuk, Hyungwon, and I.M. The group debuted in 2015 under the label Starship Entertainment with the survival show NO MERCY.

Starting from their debut track, their songs were always quite hip-hop focused. In 2016 however, their musical direction changed a little bit to a more sophisticated sound and they decided to put a lot more focus on their MV storylines.

If you decide to stan the group, you’ll become a part of the fandom with the name Monbebe which sounds pretty cute!

Moving on to the next and probably the most important point: their music!
KPOP group MONSTA X brings quite the discography to the table! As of 2020, the boy group has released 5 studio albums, one reissued album, seven extended plays and 25 singles!

Their debut song was the extended play ‘Trespass’. That same year, they’ve released yet another extended play called ‘Rush’ and a follow-up single called ‘Hero’.

In 2016, the group decided to release a trilogy The Clan which consists of 2 EP’s – The Clan Pt. 1 Lost & The Clan Pt. 2 Guilty – and their first studio album The Clan Pt. 2.5: The Final Chapter which was released in 2017. The title track ‘Beautiful’ was very successful and landed the group a number #4 spot on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart.

Now, we don’t plan on going into detail with every single release but you should definitely give these albums a listen as well: Take 1. Are You There, Take 2. We Are Here and their other EP’s The Code, The Connect: Dejavu and Follow: Find You.

What’s worth mentioning is that the group doesn’t only sing in Korean; in 2017 they’ve released their first Japanese song and in February this year, they released an English album called ‘All About Luv’!

A great way to get to know a KPOP group, is to watch reality shows that they’ve starred in. As we’ve mentioned before, the group made their debut throughout the show No Mercy. This show shows the training process that every KPOP group has to go through really well.

‘Deokspatch’ is a series that releases short clips of the members just being themselves and having fun. This show is really good for those who are interested in getting to know the members but don’t have too much time on their hands. ‘1theK RIGHT NOW’ is a show with longer episodes that’s quite fun to watch and ‘Monsta X-Ray’ is another long episode show which you’ll only be able to find on VLIVE.

Wow, this was quite a lot of information! If you’re bored and don’t know what to do, cuddle up in a blanket with some snacks and give the songs a listen and maybe watch the reality shows! You definitely won’t regret it.
