“Money and wealth? Honor and pride? Authority and power? Revenge? Or something that transcends them all? Whatever you desire—it’s here.” The new anime Tower of God aired its first episode on April 1st, 2020, and it is going to be one hell of a show. Initially a Korean webtoon, a Japanese animation company took on the monumental task of animating it. Can you climb the tower?
Tower of God
As of April 8th, only two episodes will be aired, so if you want to catch up, now is the time. You’re going to want to stay on top of this one because a lot is coming and fast with a Webtoon that has been out since June 30th, 2010. With ten years of run time, there are three “seasons” of the story with around 200+ chapters per season. If you would like to read ahead or see if you’ll be into it before trying the anime check out Webtoons. Webtoon is an excellent site with apps for Apple and Android plus a website.
In the Webtoons, comic Bam is following a girl named Rachel, and he finds himself taken into this tower where most times, people are chosen to participate in the tower and climb as a regular. On the infrequent occasion, someone opens the door with their power, that being, Bam. The story is jam-packed with lovable characters, humor, betrayal, loss, and friendship. The battles are incredible, and the whole structure and society of the tower are well thought out.
So what will you choose?
We don’t want to spoil too much, so you’ll have to tune in every Wednesday at 10:30 pm EDT on Crunchyroll with your account or wait a week and watch it for free. You’ll always be a week behind, but we won’t judge. If you hate the thought, try out a Crunchyroll subscription or start tearing through that webtoon comic. We know we have (currently on season 2 episode 212). So follow “the story of the beginning and the end of Rachel, the girl who climbed the tower so she could see the stars, and Bam, the boy who needed nothing but her.”
Also, if you love sweepstakes, get on this one, a collaboration from Crunchyroll and Webtoons. Just find an official post, tag two friends with emojis describing their usefulness, and use #towerofgod between April 8th and 13th. Official rules are here, easy, right?
