The Rap Up is Back Again With Hot Releases!

Welcome back to the Rap Up: where we, at the Honey POP, give you the latest hip-hop and R&B releases! We hope your second week of April didn’t go too bad, and we hope you’re all hanging in there during our time in self-isolation! We’re always here every Sunday whenever you need different music to listen to; the Rap Up is back again with hot releases this week!

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Tory Lanez: The New Toronto 3

R&B artist Tory Lanez dropped his new album The New Toronto 3 this past Friday! With a mixture of R&B, hip-hop, and afrofusion, he released the 16-track project surrounding the emotions of a bad relationship. Tory Lanez had an interesting process while creating a track; he told Apple that ‘D.N.D’ was created with the help of his fans! He went on Instagram live with his followers, who helped him come up with the title and the beats behind the track. We think it’s safe to say that his fans have great taste.

Maya B & Saint Jhn: ‘Sink’

Rising artist Maya B released her new single ‘Sink,’ which features SAINt JHN. This song is a must-have on your playlist with its contagious melody and catchy beat (Fun fact: She was dying her hair while filming the video). At just 20-years old, she has been on tour with a few artists, including Summer Walker and Mabel. She also has more music coming out soon, as her upcoming EP is coming out this Spring! We know we can expect a lot from it based on this single and what other publications have said about it. NYLON has said “Maya B has range. Forget about trying to count the genres she’s blended.”

Devin Kirtz & Quincy: ‘HENNESSY’

R&B/Pop singer Devin Kirtz releases his new song ‘HENNESSY’ along with an intimate music video to go along with it. The single also features a long-time friend of his, rapper/actor Quincy. Devin Kirtz has an upcoming project that will be released through Hero Records; it’ll feature his past successful tracks ‘Move’ and ‘My Day.’ From a professional soccer player to a musician, Kirtz has performed at many shows, and he is continuing rise as an artist.

Chaz French & Cam Wallace: ‘Me’

Released this past Friday, rapper Chaz French drops new single ‘Me,’ which features fellow rapper Cam Wallace. Talking about life’s highs and lows, and surviving difficult times, Chaz French combines his rhymes with a more upbeat sound and a positive message. You may also recognize the production, as he sampled Trick Daddy’s hit ‘I’m a Thug’ in the beginning of the track. If you need some motivation, or simply some rap you can dance to, Chaz French has got you covered.

Lili Kendall: ‘third degree love crimes’

Pop/R&B Lili Kendall is back with her new single ‘third degree love crimes.’ You can thank us later for blessing you with gorgeous vocals and a vibey song. Created with her producer and friend SLMN, Lili Kendall described the easiness of the creative process: “We do some crazy shit for, and in, love. And that’s what inspired this song… It was just one of those songs/feelings that was lying dormant in us waiting to be heard, and nothing was going to stop it that day.” We’re in love with this track, and if you want to hear more, make sure you pre-save her upcoming album love, herself; it’s out on April 22nd!
