Here’s THP’s Dream Cast for Hercules Remake

Here’s THP’s Dream Cast for Hercules Remake

Another Disney classic is getting a live-action remake.  Hercules is gearing up for the big screen! It’s now confirmed The Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame) are producing under their AGBO production company.  Another Marvel alum Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is writing the script.

What We Know So Far

It will have a theatrical release instead of going directly to Disney+.  The COVID-19 pandemic shifted how movies are being released.  Disney has delayed some films, while others have been sent to Disney+

Since its announcement fans weighed in on Twitter on who they want cast, but here’s who we at The Honey Pop think should make the cut.

Hercules

Zac Efron is the front runner for Hercules. Besides being hot with delicious abs, Zac has proven to be a versatile actor. From popular quirky Troy in High School Musical to transforming into serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile. Not to mention he would totally kill the musical numbers.

Megara

Who should play Hercules leading lady? On April 16, Princess of Pop Ariana Grande embodied Megara during her rendition of  ‘I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)’ for “Disney Family Singalong.” After hearing those vocals there’s no other choice, Ariana is it! We know she looks good with red hair and can belt out lyrics like no other.

Fans knew a remake of Hercules was coming soon because a petition was started 4 months ago to get Ariana cast.

Actor Josh Gad agrees, he tells Variety, “She would amazing as Meg, she would be perfect, I would love to see that happen.”  Check out her breathtaking performance below

Philoctetes

Phil is Hercules’s right-hand man. Danny Devito did an amazing job portraying him in the original film, but for the remake, we’re thinking someone different for the half-goat half-human hero trainer.

Phil is witty, sarcastic, and kind-hearted. Which is why Tony Cox is the perfect actor to play him. He’s already had practice portraying Marcus Skidmore in Bad Santa.

Hades

Many people come to mind for the role of the fiery blue hot-headed brother of Zeus. Even as a villain, the god of the Underworld is one of the best parts of the film. Though he fails to defeat Hercules and become ruler of Olympus, his character was still enjoyable.

One distinctive trait about Hades besides his evil personality is his evil sounding voice. Known as “the Voice” and “Silver Throat,” Keith David would make the perfect Hades! The award-winning voice-over actor portrayed Apollo in the original film. His most notable voice-over roles include Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog and Solovar in CW’s The Flash.

The Muses

Thanks to The Muses Hercules is regarded as the best soundtracked Disney film, which is good news since it’s being reported that all the original songs will be featured in the remake. Soulful and sassy here’s who we think should play the powerful singers. Anika Noni Rose as Calliope, Lizzo as Thalia, Kelly Rowland as Clio, Normani as Terpsichore, and Janelle Monae as Melpomene.
