Welcome back to the Rap Up, where we give you the hottest hip-hop/R&B releases of the week. I think we all know how amazing last week was, and now, we’re bringing you new rap and R&B releases from big artists such as Drake, Meg Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, and more! The Rap Up comes with fire to start May off!
Enough of the conversation– let’s get right into it!
Drake: Dark Lane Demo Tapes
This past Friday, Drake fans have truly been blessed with his new project Dark Lane Demo Tapes. Consisting of 14 tracks, the project is supposedly a compilation of “leaks and joints from SoundCloud” along with some new tracks for us to vibe to! We can all rely on Drake to give us any vibe we’re in the mood for, whether it be melancholic R&B, an up-beat track to dance to, or a track that will have you ready to drink with friends. If you’re a fan of this drop, you will also be happy to find out that he is dropping his 6th studio album this Summer! We’re about to be jammin’ in our living rooms y’all!

Meg Thee Stallion & Beyonce: ‘Savage’ (Remix)
Our queens Meg Thee Stallion and Beyonce dropped the remix of ‘Savage.’ It was truly an appearance we needed, considering both of them were born from Houston, Texas! Bey added her flavor onto the track, giving women confidence and phrases that will be around for the rest of the year. Y’all heard what she said, ladies! It’s demon time, and if we get out of quarantine, we’ll have our Savage Summer. Until then, you can try out the new Savage challenge on Tik Tok, and let us know if take it on!
You can stream ‘Savage (Remix)’ on all platforms! All artist proceeds will go to the Bread of Life foundation, which helps end homelessness and gives back to those in need. Make sure you stream for a good cause!
Doja Cat & Nicki Minaj: ‘Say So’ Remix
The women of hip-hop are rising! Not only did we get a fire remix with Meg Thee Stallion and Beyonce, but we also got an extra remix of ‘Say So,’ which features the queen of rap herself– Nicki Minaj. Saying that Nicki came for necks in her verses would be a complete understatement; she killed her feature, and it’s all we’re talking about as of right now. Fans of both Doja Cat and Nicki have been taking part in streaming parties online to support the remix. If you love the song as much as we do, then you should definitely take part! Who wouldn’t want to listen to such a classic?
You can stream the ‘Say So’ remix on all platforms!
Dreamville: Lute’s “Gold Mouf Chronicles”
Dreamville rapper Lute is back with another episode of his series “Gold Mouf Chronicles.” With the quarantine and social distancing still in effect, you gotta make sure you are stocked up on food to cook or snack on. Lucky for you, Lute— I mean, Gold Mouf– put all of all on to some fire quarantine snacks in his latest episode of the Gold Mouf Chronicles. If you’re ever bored or running out of snack recommendations, Gold Mouf got you covered! Oh, and while you’re at it, stream ‘GED (Gettin Every Dolla).’ *Wink*
DaBaby: ‘Can’t Stop’
DaBaby just dropped his new music video for his single ‘Can’t Stop,’ which is off of his newly released album BLAME IT ON BABY. Along with releasing a new video, we just found out that his album hit #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart. This is an amazing reach for the rapper, as this is his 2nd #1 album in the last seven months. I mean, we all know how fire KIRK is; are we that surprised by his accomplishments?

Moneybagg Yo: ‘Speak 4 Em’
Moneybagg Yo has finally released the music video for his chart-climbing single ‘Speak 4 Em.’ Within the first 5 seconds, you can tell it’s a club banger. As soon as the beat drops, Moneybagg starts spitting his raunchy lyrics, which will have your heads bopping back and forth. Let’s be honest– you can truly expect this reaction from any of his tracks off of Time Served, am I right? Luckily, we’ll be getting a few more tracks when the deluxe version hits May 15th!
You can stream Time Served on all platforms!
Amber Mark: ‘1894’
Amber Mark has just related the next single from her “COVERED-19 SERIES.” Quarantine has really brought out everyone’s creativity, and Mark shows just how creative she can be in the video for her new single ‘1984.’ A funky, hip beat pairs perfectly with the rising star’s sick rap verses. Completely filmed and produced in her NYC home, the song and video are filled with women empowerment. We can’t wait to see the next video in this ongoing “Covered-19” series!

KEM: ‘Lie To Me’
Smooth R&B singer Kem is back with a new single ‘Lie to Me.’ If you’re familiar with the 3-time Grammy nominee, you know he’s the go-to if you are in the mood for a good love song. While ‘Lie to Me’ has a fast-paced beat, it’s still something you and your special someone can groove to. The track is off of his upcoming album, and we know that will be a success based on his last #1 album Promise To Love and, of course, this beautiful track.

Rae Rae: ‘Crash Flow (Ain’t Trippin’)’ ft. Taeman
Our new turn-up anthem is here! Rae Rae may only be 17, but he is on the come up in the rap industry, and he’s not worried about anything! His single ‘Crash Flow’ has over 3 million YouTube views and a viral dance on TikTok. The heavy bass-filled tune was produced by Rae Rae himself, and it shows the street hustle through his eyes. With over 30 million streams, ‘Crash Flow’ is just a snippet of what’s to come from the young, rising artist.

OMB Bloodbath & Maxo Kream: ‘Dropout’
OMB Bloodbath is living her best life. Not only has she signed an Interscope deal with 10:22 PM and Love Renaissance (LVRN), but the trailer for her new single ‘Drop Out’ Ft. Maxo Kream just dropped, and social media is in a frenzy. The self-described tomboy and Maxo Kream take turns delivering fire bars against a bass-filled beat. The video will be dropping this coming Friday on May 8th, so make sure you don’t miss it!
Lola Young: RENAISSANCE
Our R&B baby Lola Young has finally dropped her EP Renaissance! The project includes three songs: her past single ‘Pick Me Up,’ ‘Same Bed,’ and ‘None For You.’ The three-track project is overall about growing from past experiences and relationships. “Renaissance is about rebirth,” Lola says, “It’s about learning through love and experience. Renaissance looks at my relationships, and the ideas of lust, love, loss, and growth.” Bringing a fresh new sound to the R&B community, you guys have no choice but to stan.

wordsbyjuni: ‘how it is’
wordsbyjuni releases his R&B track ‘how it is’ along with a music video to pair it with. The new single includes a mixture of many different elements. ‘how it is’ will not only give you a taste of R&B but also a little bit of indie-alternative with the guitar riff throughout the song. It is clear that Juni has many influences, and it executes it beautifully. It’s always good to combine elements from different genres to make the music sound unique, and this song definitely proves our point!
