Inspired by the bravery of the essential workers during this COVID-19 health crisis, Avril Lavigne joins the singers who are creating moving songs to help those who are in need amidst this pandemic.
She re-recorded the track ‘Warrior’ from her sixth studio album Head Above Water, fittingly re-titling it ‘We Are Warriors.’ The accompanying video highlights the incredible efforts of frontline workers worldwide, capturing the strength of these warriors who are sacrificing their safety for ours. She’s even included special messages from fans who are isolating across the world!
“I felt the need to do something to honor all of the frontline workers who risk their lives every day to keep us safe. From the doctors, nurses, police, firefighters, grocery workers, delivery services, all essential workers, and the brave volunteers. I am humbled with gratitude and want to dedicate my new song ‘We Are Warriors’ to everyone putting their lives at risk to keep us safe,” Lavigne says of the track.

Along with the song’s release, The Avril Lavigne Foundation has partnered with Project HOPE, a global health organization dedicated to placing power in the hands of local health care workers across the globe. All net proceeds from sales and streams of ‘We Are Warriors’ and its accompanying video will help Project HOPE’s ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts around the world – including providing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Project HOPE has more than 60 years’ experience responding to some of the world’s greatest health crises, including being one of the only international humanitarian relief organizations on the ground in Wuhan as the COVID-19 outbreak began. Since January, Project HOPE has been providing critical supplies, training, and other support to frontline health workers treating patients and working to contain the spread of the virus globally, including in the U.S.
