Theater kids, rejoice! The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-Winning Musical Hamilton is coming to Disney+ sooner than you think!
In fact you better start warming up your vocal chords now because on July 3rd you can sing along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, and the rest of the original Tony Award winning cast.
The film, which was supposed to be released in theaters next year, is turning our living room into “The Room Where It Happens” and we can’t wait! Robert A. Iger, Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company felt the film needed to come out sooner rather than later because Hamilton is a “story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity” which is “relevant and impactful” given the world’s state.
Hamilton isn’t throwing away its shot and instead carefully chose to be released on the eve of Independence Day. An excellent choice since the film deals with the United States’s struggle and aftermath for independence.
Hamilton was filmed back in 2016 with the original cast at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway. Not only will we get to see the cast that made Hamilton iconic, but we also are getting the best seat in the house according to Lin-Manuel Miranda himself.
While the film “live captured” the Broadway musical from the audience, the film promises to transport us into the world of Broadway in an entirely new way by combining live theater, film, and streaming together.
How can we possible “Say No to this?”
We know the film is going to “Blow Us All Away” and we can’t wait to sit back and enjoy — or maybe sing along. After all, this is our shot to be part of “The Story of Tonight.”
Will you be watching Hamilton on July 3rd? Who’s parts will you be singing? Or are you planning to put on a one man show? We want to know everything! Let us know in the comments or by tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP!
