Oops! … I Did It Again — 20 Years On It’s Still One Hell Of An Album!

Every so often, you get an artist that comes along who encapsulates that era and represents a generation. It is safe to say that Britney Spears is one of those musicians. From the moment she delivered ‘Baby One More Time’ through to her later efforts, Britney has a loyal fanbase who will always remember the iconic videos, moments, and performances that will hold a special place in their hearts.

So, with Oops! … I Did It Again celebrating its 20th anniversary, including a release of a commemorative picture vinyl edition of the album that will be released on August 14, 2020. We look back on the album that delivered some iconic videos that will forever hold a special place in music history…

‘Oops!…I Did It Again’

That red suit, the catchy chorus, this was what pop was all about back in the day, and it’s still one of those bops that when it enters your ears will mull around your brain for days and weeks after. And we’re not mad about it!

‘Stronger’ was and still is an anthem for Britney fans around the world and has the power to lift your spirits and empower you. Stronger reminds us that even though we have had dark and sad moments that we can come back even more powerful and energized if we don’t let others hold our light but do things our way.

“Here’s a story about a girl named Lucky” this song does have some foreshadowing in its lyrics that Britney may relate to. It reminds us that sometimes what we see isn’t whats going on. For what is considered a bubblegum pop track, it’s safe to say if you listen properly, there is a deep somewhat dark message within its words.

‘Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know’

This is probably Britney’s most underrated single, but its a desperate plea of wanting someone to commit and be there for you. The video itself displays the need and want of having someone feel the same way for you as you do for them. It’s one of those songs that is often overlooked but shouldn’t be, check it out now for yourself, and you will see what we mean!

  • This album is something most music critics will just gloss over as being just another pop album but everyone else knows how important an iconic it is. Even though it sounds like sometihng straight from 2000, somehow it stills fresh and exciting twenty years later. It’s so hard to choose a favorite from this album but one song I have to say is ridiculously underrated is her cover of “Satisfaction”.
