The Rap Up Is Back To Start Off June!

Welcome back to The Rap Up! Where we, at the Honey POP give you the hottest releases in hip-hop and R&B!

During times like these, it is important to not only stand up for what is right but to aid the movement also. We are devastated over the many deaths of African Americans throughout the years, and we’re proud that a lot of us are fighting to end hate crimes and end racism. We want you all to know that we stand with you and are there every step of the way. If you would like more information on what you can do to help, check out our recent article here.

We strongly encourage you to do what you can to help the black community. All lives can not matter until Black Lives Matter.

Let’s get on with these new releases!

Professor Paws & Yung Saba: ‘Rum Pa Pa Pum’

South London artist and producer Professor Paws collabs with Yung Saba in bringing us ‘Rum Pa Pa Pum.’ Not only is the production simply immaculate, but this duo created a bop that’s a must-have for your upcoming summer playlist. Serving fire is clearly his forte, as Professor Paws has been producing music since the age of 14! The overall goal of his music is to show diversity and messages to his listeners; ‘Rum Pa Pa Pum’ is said to be dedicated to ‘all his people stuck in the ends living a hard life.’

Re.Decay & Brian Ennals: ‘Ghost’

Re_Decay is a great group to listen to if you have trouble letting go of music from the 90s, as their sound reminds of just that with its nostalgic funk and hip-hop elements! This week, they are back with their new single ‘Ghost,’ which features Brian Ennals. “My only goal when I wrote these particular verses was to sound like Ghostface did on Supreme Clientele.” Ennals speaks on the track, “I knew the majority people of listening to this record would be hearing me for the first time, so I wrote the verses to be sort of a thesis statement of me as an artist and my worldview, my concerns, my ambivalence, and my vices.

Mike G & Ash Riser & GAMO: ‘Overdrive’

Mike G releases his music video for his single ‘Overdrive,’ featuring Ash Riser and GAMO. Mike G wanted to drop the music video because the message correlates to what is going on in our society today. The track is about being pushed past your limits, but not in a good way. Along with the release, Mike G also shared a statement that everyone needs to hear: “The fight for equality doesn’t end in the streets of your city. Be sure to go and vote for your local state reps. The system must be dismantled before it can be fixed.”

And that’s on what? Period.

Wax Tailor & D Smoke: ‘Keep It Moving’

Producer Wax Tailor collaborated with D Smoke in giving us ‘Keep It Moving.’ Not only did they give us a bop that somehow manages to uplift your spirits, but they also gave us a colorful, creative video to pair it with. This feel-good song is a requirement on your ‘Happy’ playlists! If you’re a fan of artists like Anderson Paak, Kendrick Lamar, or Lupe Fiasco, we promise that you will fall in love with this track!

He is set to release his debut album UNDERRATED on June 19th. This track showcases his distinguishing features as a rapper; his unique sound and insane production has us excited for what else he has planned for us in the future!
