The Rap Up Welcomes You Into July!

Welcome back to the Rap Up, where we at The Honey POP give you the hottest hip-hop/R&B releases from the past week! Many of your favorites were featured last week such as Megan Thee Stallion, 6LACK, August Alsina, and many more!

Let’s see what we have in store for this week, as the Rap Up welcomes you into July!

Pop Smoke: Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon

Fans have been raving over the drop of Pop Smoke‘s new album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon. The rapper was shot and killed earlier in February, and fans have been honoring him ever since. When his final album dropped, it immediately took over the Apple charts; he is right on track to having the #1 album in the country. Based on what we’ve heard, and what others have heard, the number of listeners and sales will only skyrocket from here!

Lil Wayne: Free Weezy

In honor of the fifth anniversary of his album, Lil Wayne has dropped his Free Weezy Album (FWA) on all platforms. Although the album was originally dropped five years ago, it was only available to stream on Tidal, so many fans are stoked to listen! Not only did that, but Lil Wayne also released his new EP Skateboard Weezy, which features four tracks that we just aren’t over yet. Do you think he’ll drop Tha Carter VI soon? Let us know below!

City Girls: The Series

City Girls just released their first part of their docuseries! Titled ‘Yung Miami’s Secret,’ it talks about a secret Yung Miami has been hiding. The docu-series is full of honest, raw footage throughout the two women’s lives. They will be released every week in five parts, so make sure to check out their debut if you’re interested in their lives behind the music! Think of it as reality TV, except everything is realer.

You can watch the series on Youtube!

Saweetie: ‘Pretty B*tch Freestyle’

In honor of her birthday, Saweetie dropped ‘Pretty B*tch Freestyle,’ yet again radiating her confidence onto us and spitting straight bars. We could never get sick of our pretty b*tch music; what else are we suppose to vibe to while we’re on a girls’ night out, am I right? While dropping the freestyle and celebrating her birthday, she also hinted at a new project in the works. We promise to let you know as soon as it comes out!

Queen Naija & Wale: ‘Butterflies Pt. 2’ (REMIX)

Our Queen Naija teamed up with Wale to create the remix for ‘Butterflies Pt. 2.’ We think you all know by now just how romantic the song is and how much it makes our heartthrob. Hearing her beautiful vocals collide with Wale’s is really the type of R&B we needed right now. The original track accumulated over 33 million streams across all platforms and has been featured on many playlists across the four major streaming platforms. We can’t wait for her next project!

Blacc Zacc: ‘What I Did Today’

Guess what we did today? We watched Blacc Zacc’s new video that tells us what he did today. We can clearly see where his fame from the rap industry has gotten him, considering the number of luxuries he bought with his $200K (We can only dream. At least for now). No wonder Blacc Zacc is known as the “Richest Rapper in the State,” as he grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. If you love this track, you’ll love his debut album Carolina Narco, which features the song above!

Moneybagg Yo: ‘Said Sum’

Moneybagg Yo released his single and music video for ‘Said Sum.’ In this rap, the artist inserts clips of people talking trash about him and his music. You could say that this is a diss-track to all of the haters that ever have anything to say about him. The rap industry and listeners are full of harsh critics, but the rapper manages to not let it get to his head. After all, haters are just confused fans!

Lil Tecca: ‘Out of Love’

Rapper Lil Tecca releases a brand new video for his single ‘Out of Love.’ In this track, Lil Tecca talks about possible inconveniences when it comes to love; his possible encounters with gold diggers, or people with disingenuous intentions. He commits himself to stay on top of his career in music and keeping his circle close instead of focusing on the distractions. ‘Out of Love’ will be featured on his upcoming project Internet Money Do They Really Love You, so keep your eyes open for new music!

Lil Durk & Gunna: ‘Gucci Gucci’

Lil Durk teams up with Gunna in their single and music video for ‘Gucci Gucci.’ Featured on his deluxe and original version of his album Just Cause Y’all Waited II, which has earned its #2 spot on the Billboard Charts, the song talks of the desires that come with being mainstream rappers. Have you listened to the album yet? The answer better be yes!

Smoove’L: ‘Turn Left, Turn Right’

Smoove’L releases his new single and video for ‘Turn Left, Turn Right.’ Still giving the energy that makes us hype, Smoove’L has nothing but bars to spit for us! Though it’s not on his album Boy From Brooklyn, this is a potential single that could be apart of another project in the works! A lot of artists have had a lot of free time in quarantine, so the possibilities are high. 😉

Rhyan Lamar, Canon, John Givez, nobigdyl., Kris Noel, Byron Juane and Jack Red: ‘RELIEF’

Spreading more awareness of the social issues going on in our country, Rhyan Lamar releases his new single and video for ‘RELIEF,’ which is also a bop that needs to be in your playlist ASAP. Using elements and samples from gospel music, ‘RELIEF’ talks about testifying through transparency and faith. It overall spreads a good message to the listeners; to persevere through tough times like these. ‘RELIEF’ is apart of Rhyan Lamar’s debut project aPERFECTmess; we already know that it’s gonna be hot!
