The Rap Up Has New Jams Waiting For You!

Welcome back to the Rap Up, where we, at the Honey POP give you the hottest hip-hop/R&B releases from this past week! I think we can all agree that last week was a pretty great way to start July off; time just flies by, doesn’t it?

Let’s dive right in because this Rap Up has new jams waiting for you!

Summer Walker: Life on Earth EP

Summer Walker released her 5-track EP Life on Earth. As soon as the project dropped, fans had tears in their eyes, new captions for their Instagram posts, and verses they can relate or look up to. Leave it to Ms. Summer Walker to get you deep (and I’m talking deep) in your feelings! Not only that, but her chill, R&B vibe throughout the EP is truly beautiful. Taking a look on past projects, such as Over It, production and variety is never a problem for the artist.

Juice WRLD: Legends Never Die

Juice WRLD’s first posthumous album, Legends Never Die, was dropped this past Friday; a true piece of art that will leave his final mark on the rap community. You will find the project hard to listen to, especially if you’re a die-hard Juice WRLD fan. He talks about his struggles with depression, anxiety, and his inner demons, as he does in most of his songs, but you can hear true pain in each track. Ever since his death in December 2019 (due to an overdose), fans have been mourning, and from the looks of it, he will never be forgotten.

City Girls & Doja Cat: ‘P*ssy Talk’

City Girls dropped their music video for ‘Pussy Talk’ with Doja Cat, and saying that the three of them went off would be a complete understatement. The hair, the outfits, the confidence, and the overall vibe of the video is such a vibe. Witnessing women be open about their sexuality is something that is always worth recognizing; for centuries, women have been shamed for the exact same things men do, and now society is more open about it!

Kiana Ledé: ‘Crazy.’

Kiana Ledé drops a simple yet intimate music video for her single ‘Crazy,’ which is off of her most recent album Kiki. The emotion in her voice and the production is heard all throughout the two minutes, and we wish it were longer. Want to hear more? Stream Kiki now; it has been in the Top 5 of the Billboard R&B/Soul Charts, Top 5 of the Apple charts for R&B/Soul, and has made the top 10 for Apple Music albums charts. We also fell in love with this work of art, too.

Genius Cru & MC FIZZY: ‘Fiasco’

Beautiful women, expensive drinks, and island vibes are just a few things to describe the sick video for Genius Cru ‘Fiasco’ featuring MC Fizzy; Another
jam to add to your summer playlist! The sick afro-beat filled with tropical instruments will definitely make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean at a lit party. Genius Cru and MC Fizzy collaborating is the special touch that makes the song out of this world!

J.I. & Myke Towers: ‘Spanglish’

Up and coming rapper J.I teamed up with Myke Towers and dropped ‘Spanglish,’ along with the music video. Yet another song meant for your party playlist, ‘Spanglish’ is full of trap beats that will make you want to get up and dance. Not only did they create a party track, but they made sure to express to their Puerto Rican roots to their listeners, which is something we love.

Leven Kali: ‘GET BY’

Leven Kali released his first visual (out of 11) from his recent project HIGHTIDE. Combining in footage from recent protests, ‘GET BY’ is centered around the Black Lives Matter movement and the other social issues going on right now. Each video will be released each week and will also be followed by a charitable component that he finds important to him, so make sure you watch the videos!
