The new ‘Me Before You’ video directed by Victor Kovachev is about hope and rediscovery. Mali-Koa always has stellar videos to accompany songs and this time is no different.
The yearning vocals at the beginning of the song is paired with a visual of Mali-Koa being alone with low light outside.
The rest of the video, though, is in reverse. We see the Aussie native going through actions as if the video is being rewinded the whole time. We love how this works with the lyrics “Gotta get out / Back on my feet / Back to the person I used to be,” playing with the idea of rewinding life.
We’ve said we love her visual aesthetics before, and Mali-Koa keeps to the usual cool colors and neutral tones. The video is outstandingly beautiful, from colors to the rewinding idea. We simply cannot get enough of it.

Mali-Koa herself talked about the rediscovery the song is meant to exemplify.
“‘Me Before You’ is about the journey back to myself, pre-someone or something,” she said. “It pays homage to what was, with a message of hope for the difficult journeys ahead and the road to healing and new beginnings.”
This song was third single Mali-Koa released with anticipation for her debut album. Her other singles ‘Some Things’ and ‘Dancer’ are also beautiful to listen to. We don’t know when the album is set to come out, nor do we know the title, but we’ll be on the edge of our seats waiting for it.
