The single is a follow up from the massive trap-pop anthem ‘How You Like That‘ as part of BLACKPINK’s 2020 comeback. With the princess of pop and the current takeover girl group joining forces, we just know that 2020 is going to be saved by these babes with this sweet treat. Hold on to your wigs, people!
While we wait for the song of the century drop, we’ve been thinking about some more incredible collaborations where KPOP meets the western world in the perfect collision to create some of the best collabs of our time. And, as multistans, we thought it was only right to introduce the new song to the hall of fame of some of the best collaborations across the pond we’ve been blessed with.
Don’t Need Your Love – NCT Dream X HRVY
NCTzens were absolutely living for this collab which dropped last year. HRVY joined NCT Dream on this electro-pop bop and it was a total dream. HRVY’s vocals blended perfectly with those of the boys to the point that any newbies could easily be fooled that he was actually a member. We still have this in our playlists today!
‘Brand New Day’ – BTS ft Zara Larsson
For the original soundtrack of their game BTS World, the Bangtan Boys enlisted some amazing artists for some collabs, with the V and j-hope sub-unit featuring the Swedish sensation Zara Larsson. V and Zara’s soulful and bright vocals entwine to perfection with j-hope’s flawless rapping being the bow on this beautiful gift we were blessed with. A mix of traditional instrumentals met with hip hop beats makes this bright and bouncy track an instant serotonin boost whenever you press play.
‘Close To Me Remix’ – Ellie Goulding, Diplo & Red Velvet
Joining Ellie Goulding on the remix of her ‘Close To Me’ was Diplo and our girls Red Velvet! The remix is arguably as good (if not better than) the original, with the girls’ angelic vocals and harmonies really lifting the track to another level. The entire thing is pretty euphoric all while a total smash – something we didn’t think was possible, but here we are!
‘Play It Cool’ – Steve Aoki & Monsta X
Of course, we had to add the club banger that is ‘Play It Cool’. Our boys Monsta X teamed up with Mr Steve Aoki for the English version of this song and trust us if clubs were open right now we’d still be requesting this baby on the regular. Fueled with deep house vibes and a captivating hook, this song is really one to rock the house down.
‘So Am I’ – Ava Max ft NCT 127
NCT 127 joined the lovely Ava Max on a new version of her big single ‘So Am I’, with offerings of rap verses and incredible backing vocals from our boys. Mark and Taeyong also slide in with gratifying verses in both English and Korean, before Jaehyun duets with Ava on the chorus. We really love this remix and it truly lifts our spirits.
‘Shut Up and Dance’ – NCT 127, Lay & Jason Derulo
Now we were really truly blessed with this huge banger. Jason Derulo joined NCT 127 and EXO‘s Lay when they came together as some of the biggest artists to create this beaut of a cross-genre of hip hop, MPOP, and KPOP. The song was the first single from a four-song EP and box set entitled, The Greatest Dancer, inspired and dedicated to the art of the late legend Michael Jackson, and not to be biased, but we think they did justice here!
‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ – j-hope ft Becky G
This trilingual banger truly shook the music world. j-hope collabed with Miss Becky G on a cover of Webstar and Young B’s original of the same name, adding Korean and Spanish into the mix. The upbeat hip-hop track full of funky bass grooves is one to take over your body with the beats, so it’s no surprise there was a dance challenge that overtook TikTok when it dropped. Still vibing to it today!
We are so stoked for the BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez collab that we don’t know how we’re gonna wait!
