One of the most under-appreciated moments for artists and bands is just how challenging the tour life can be. Loading up in a van, or if you are lucky, a bus, and driving to city after city performing your heart out. Every single night you are giving it your all to a new crowd of faces in a different state and most people will never understand just how demanding that can be. There are so many bonds created among bandmates while sharing these life experiences as well as falling in love with the constant moving of scenery on the road and that is exactly what Carly Rae Jepsen is highlighting in her new track, ‘Me And The Boys In The Band.’
Starting this track we are instantly greeted by a fun and uptempo instrumental, which is to be expected with the same artist that gave us the EMOTION album almost five years ago. The brightness doesn’t stop there though because as soon as Carly comes in and begins singing about her love for the open road and longing to be with the boys in the band, no pun intended, this becomes a quarantine bop that so many artists can vibe with, even if it may not be their musical preference. Not only does this song slap, but the video for it is everything we here at The Honey Pop love to see during quarantine…a homemade video of all the bandmates! Homemade music videos have been some of the only good things to be coming from this quarantine.
Here is what Carly Rae Jepsen had to say about this new track in her official press release:
On the road. That was the life. I miss travel and performing and my band mates who over the years have become my adopted brothers. Through romantic relationships good and bad I have always found myself again in the late-night conversations with my band. Here’s to all the shows we have played and have yet to play. The late-night dancers we turn into on the long bus drives and the tourists we become in the early mornings. Here’s to nostalgia city and keeping close the ones that know you best. Can’t wait for more. Till then a from home “pick me up” song from all of us to you. Me and the boys and the band! Big thanks to Jack Antanoff, Tavish Crowe, Jared Manerika and Nik Pesut for making this jam come together from a distance.

We need to let all of you know that we can’t stop streaming this new song from Carly Rae Jepsen. Due to the vulnerable nature in which this song is written, especially with how open Carly is about her love for her band, our favorite lyrics from this one are:
“We partied in the streets last night
Got a little deep last night
In our feelings, yeah
And I got a little me last night
I danced in the street last night
With the boys in the band
Just me and the boys in the band..”
Did you fall in love with this on the first listen like we did? Finding yourself missing bandmates you don’t even have yet? Ready to hit the road eating gas station food for months to promote your new record? Yeah, we are too, so let’s bond over it! Make sure to follow us @thehoneypop on Twitter and Instagram and share your feels with us.
