Hey there THP lovers, looking for some new tunes to listen to this fall? Well, we’re here to tell you Honduran-Canadian artist and producer, Daniela Andrade, is coming out with another EP on September 30. But if you’re dying for a sneak peek until then, she has a new song and video ‘Puddles’ out now!
The EP & Song
Nothing much has changed, I don’t feel the same will be her new EP and comes after last year’s critically acclaimed effort, Tamale.
The song ‘Puddles’ is the first single from the EP and is produced by Daniela herself. However, she did collaborate with Toronto-based musician/producer Harrison to craft the instrumentals. Much like the rest of the new EP, ‘Puddles’ resurfaces old memories from her childhood.
After hitting a lull during quarantine trying to continue work on my album, I decided to take a step back and write from a place with no specific goal in mind. Spending as much time as I could outside when the weather warmed up brought back tons of memories of past summers spent.Daniela
The Music Video
With the announcement of her freshest track and EP also came a brand-new video, which we’re obsessed with!
It gives off psychedelic vibes with its bright, swirling colors along with her relaxed vocals and funky instrumentals. Throughout the majority of the video, which lasts a little over a minute and a half, she dances around a vibrant puddle that swells into a larger one, bringing the mesmerizing lyrics “Watch me dance around thеm puddles/ Maybe I can walk on water” to life. See it below!
It was co-directed by award-winning filmmaker, Jeremy Comte, in collaboration with Daniela Andrade. The pair have teamed up previously for her ‘Polly Pocket’ video and together has won the Prism Prize Hi-Fidelity Award last year. The work of Jean François Suavé inspired the video, who also captured Daniela’s cover (look above) and also incorporates the illustrations by artist Ema Gaspar.
All this buzz is getting us so excited for that EP, Nothing much has changed, I don’t feel the same. If September flies by just as fast as the rest of the year has, then lucky for us, and hopefully for you, the wait won’t be so bad!
