Janelle Monáe Has Her New Video ‘Turntables’ For Us, And It Shows Her Power

The electric lady herself, Janelle Monáe, is back, and she’s radiating just how powerful she is with her new video for ‘Turntables’!

Has it really been two years since her last album, Dirty Computer, came out? Don’t get us wrong, we’re loving seeing her in more films (and we’re looking forward to Antebellum), but we missed her music!

Directed by Child, ‘Turntables’ commands attention. It features powerful images from history and those captured in the recent 2020 movements to drive change, liberation, representation, and equality across America. One view is simply not enough to catch all the inspiration for us to take charge, too! Besides, we honestly can’t stop listening to those lyrics which are equally as catalytic! Everything about ‘Turntables’ is pure strength, and seeing Janelle Monáe stand in front of the warrior queen statue at the end of the video is the epitome of it!

‘Turntables’ was written for the upcoming Amazon Studios documentary All In: The Fight For Democracy. It’s available in selected theaters, so keep a lookout for one closest to you; also, look for streaming via Amazon Prime on Friday, September 18! Watch the exclusive trailer here.

Besides being an eight-time Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, producer, performer, and fashion-icon, she is also an activist and a humanitarian.  She co-chairs When We All Vote, a non-profit and nonpartisan organization to increase voting participation from all Americans, and also Fem the Future initiative, that strives to empower female filmmakers and all creatives in our society.
