Coming in at a later date than usual this year is the Billboard Music Awards! With the nominees just being announced and only a few weeks until showtime, we’re sharing everything you need to know about the 2020 BBMAs.

Will new songs that released after the original award ceremony date be acknowledged at the 2020 BBMAs?
This year’s awards are based on the chart period of March 23rd 2019 through March 14th 2020, which was set for the originally scheduled show on April 29th 2020 that was then postponed due to the pandemic. According to Billboard, the original eligibility period will remain intact to recognize the chart-topping artists and musical successes achieved and to maintain consistent tracking periods for future shows.
So, don’t worry too much, as all of the incredible music our ears were blessed with from the summer period will still have their chance to shine at the 2021 awards!
When will this year’s BBMAs be taking place?
Normally taking place around May, this year’s awards ceremony has been postponed to the fall, following the unpredictability of COVID-19. But better late than never, right?
This year’s awards will be taking place on Wednesday October 14th at 8PM E.T on NBC, so make a note in your diary!
Who is hosting this year’s BBMAs?
Kelly Clarkson will be taking on the role as host at this year’s awards for the third year in a row, and we’re sure she’ll do a spectacular job as usual!

Who is the recipient of the Icon Award?
This year’s Icon Award will be going to Garth Brooks. The 19-time BBMAs winner will also be delivering a performance, being the first announced performer for this year’s awards!
Who else is performing at this year’s BBMAs?
This year’s performers include our wonderful host Alicia Keys, alongside Demi Lovato, and nominees BTS, SIA, Post Malone, Bad Bunny, and Luke Combs. Check back soon to see if more performers are announced!
Can we vote at this year’s BBMAs?
This year’s fan-voted categories are Top Social Artist, Billboard Chart Achievement Award, and Top Collaboration. Voting will be open on October 1st!
