Leading this year’s nominations is Queen Lady Gaga with seven nominations followed by BTS and Justin Bieber with five nominations each. Other favorites up for awards include 5 Seconds of Summer, Little Mix, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, BLACKPINK, and YUNGBLUD!

2020 also sees three new awards for the EMAs including ‘Best Latin’, ‘Video For Good’, and ‘Best Virtual Live.’

As we get excited for this year’s ceremony, we’re taking a look at some of our favorite performances from past MTV EMA ceremonies to get us even more pumped.

‘Woman Like Me’ – Little Mix ft Nicki Minaj

One of the most iconic performances has to come from Little Mix with Nicki Minaj in Bilbao back in 2018. The one time the collab was performed by all artists was truly something phenomenal and had both Mixers and Barbs losing their minds.

‘Highway to Heaven’ – NCT 127

Our boys NCT 127 made history as the first KPOP group to perform at the MTV EMAs last year in Seville, and of course, it’s no surprise that they owned it! It was quite a proud moment for KPOP fans to see them performing on the biggest European music awards show and hopefully means we will be seeing many more follow in their footsteps in the years. to come.

‘Havana’ – Camila Cabello

Arguably the biggest song of 2017 was Camila Cabello‘s ‘Havana’ so it was a definite show highlight when she performed it in London for the EMAs. From the build-up intro to the choreography, fans still say this was one of her best performances of the hit single!

‘Graveyard’ – Halsey

With the music video for ‘Graveyard’ already proving to be truly magical, this performance took it to another level. Halsey performed back last year in Seville and proved just how incredible of an artist she is. The high-end production is still something we think about even a year on and we hope this is something she’ll carry out on her next tour!

‘Marry The Night’ – Lady Gaga

Back in Belfast in 2011, Lady Gaga had us shook with her performance of ‘Marry The Night.’ It was the height of her wonderfully wacky fashion and she owned the stage. Or uh… moon?

‘Nice To Meet Ya’ – Niall Horan

Our boy Nialler making his return to the industry at the beginning of the Heartbreak Weather era was truly everything. Being fed a live performance for the first time in forever was truly exhilarating and of course, he absolutely smashed it, but are we even surprised?

‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ – Taylor Swift

Throwing it back to Frankfurt in 2012, Taylor Swift once again proved her legend status taking on the role as the ringleader of the MTV EMAs in her show-stopping performance of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ The entire performance was breathtaking and a reminder that Tay is an absolute boss.
