Avril Lavigne & Rob Thomas Are In This Fight Together

The pop-punk “m***** f****** princess” Avril Lavigne and Rob Thomas of the soulful funky smooth voice of a generation are teaming up. You remember them right? Please don’t make us feel that old yet. They’re still making bomb moves in the music scene, but most importantly in the charity scene. Before we fill your brains with the goodness that is charity and music, we’ll give you a few throwbacks favorites from these two so you know just who we’re talking about.

Rob Thomas; Rob Thomas in Matchbox Twenty

This guy has always written lovely and caring music. Full of a soul that’s bared for all of us to see. From ‘Push’ with its themes of fear of vulnerability to ‘Her Diamonds.’ The latter is about his wife, and knowing that, our heart breaks all the more. Rob Thomas’ wife has an autoimmune disease. Similar to lupus, she has Lyme Disease, we can only imagine the song and dance of each day. Heartbreaking, his lyrics say it best.

"And she says oh
I can’t take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cause I can’t help her now"
Avril Lavigne Emo/Scene Queen

All that nostalgia and we’re not nearly to the best part of this announcement. Just hang tight. To give more context, we’ve all heard about Avril’s recent partnership with Project HOPE and then with Lyme Disease Awareness plus her Avril Foundation. Similarly to Rob Thomas’ wife, Avril Lavigne lives with Lyme Disease. Back in 2014, getting a tick bite changed her life. Together the two are taking on the fight to raise awareness.

I’m so excited for fans and friends from all over the world to join me and my very special guests for #FightLyme, which will benefit the Lyme community,” said Avril Lavigne “Go to www.AvrilLavigne.com and get your tickets – its going to be an evening to remember full of hope, great music, and exciting surprises! With your help, The Avril Lavigne Foundation and Global Lyme Alliance can continue to transform lives. Tune in and enjoy!
