Lauv and Conan Gray have been blowing up lately. If you’ve been anywhere on the internet at all in the last couple of months, you’ve probably heard Conan’s track ‘Heather’. Lauv has also been killing it with tons of amazing songs, with some cool artist features! He also released his Without You EP earlier this summer, so be sure to check that out!
Today, the iconic duo teamed up to bring you their new track ‘Fake’. Lauv and Conan Gray wrote this song the first time they ever met. You might get a sense of this from the lyrics, but it’s the result of a rant between the two about two-faced, fake people. You know, the “friend” that’s nice to your face but talks badly about you behind your back? The ones that swear up and down that they would never betray you but they do? Yeah, you know the one. We’ve all met people like that.
The video also adds another layer to the song
Fake friends and fake people suck, but what about avoiding feeling fake yourself? The music video shows Lauv and Conan Gray being shuffled from extravagant, outrageous set to set, trying to hold on to a little bit of their own authenticity. The song coupled with the video makes an interesting point about staying true to yourself in today’s world. It’s really easy to present yourself a certain way, especially with social media, but it can be hard to not lose yourself in that world.

Overall, we love this collaboration and we would not mind seeing another track like this! You can stream the song here! Lauv and Conan Gray’s voices pair together perfectly and make for a great vibe. What do you think of the track? Let us know in the comments below or by tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP!
