Gorillaz Are Out Here Defining These Strange Timez

Gorillaz Are Out Here Defining These Strange Timez

Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez might be a mouthful but it is also an earful. If you haven’t been living under a rock, then you’ll know we had a marvelous countdown to the album release in the form of music videos. We were none too shocked but giddy when we saw the album’s tracklist. Between the Almanac, live performance in December, and Apple 1 show we’ve been cramming the hype until we were bursting.

Have you seen the music videos? Here is all of Season One, but if you want to see each episode, we have articles for them all. With this handy YouTube playlist, you get all the bits and bobs, not just the music. While the music is amazing, personality takes you a long way. Isn’t that right, Murdoc?

Appropriately named Strange Timez, we feel like the song of the same name sets the overall vibe. It’s 2020 for crying out loud, we went from talking about hosting Gatsby esque parties to biting our nails over the state of our world environmentally, politically, and socially. Things could not get stranger and that is not a challenge. The Gorillaz have been there for us for 20 years, they’ve seen some things and been some places. Not only are they bringing us together but they’re bringing together so many aspects of the creative world.

In a surprise held October 23rd, Damon Albarn, Remi Kabaka, and a selection of the featured artists who appear on Song Machine gathered for a live chat. This is probably the most chill chat that delves into the making and thought process behind the album.

Fan Love

What did the fans think? Not just of the live but the whole album as well. Well, what did you think?

That dedication though, it’s inspiring. Our final question is this: What is next? We see Season One. It’s a no brainer there has to be more. What adventures lie in the future? Will we escape these Strange Timez? Are you ready for the journey? Did you enjoy the ride so far? We sure did.
