We always knew Monsta X would be the death of us and now we know why. Following the release of their deadly concept photos over the course of a week, the group dropped the teaser for their upcoming single ‘Love Killa’. And we are not okay.
After spending several days convinced we were getting a vampire concept, our clown status was once again confirmed when the boys came out with a bold, cinematic teaser for the MV. And the only thing supernatural about it is Shownu’s jawline. Luckily, the theme is still perfect for the Halloween season as each of the members appears to be playing a famous movie murderer.
‘Love Killa’ will be the title track on the group’s 3rd full studio album Fatal Love, which drops November 2nd at 12 AM KST. You can watch the heart-stopping teaser below (but don’t say we didn’t warn you).
While Kihyun and Minhyuk seem to take on horror classics Hannibal Lecter and American Psycho, Hyungwon channels Fight Club. And Joohoney becomes our very own Mr. J in a tribute to the Joker. Although Shownu and I.M look just as dashing and sinister, their characters are more of a mystery. Rapper I.M opens the clip with the line “Got room for one more?” which appears in The Hateful Eight. But we also see him in a car which gives us strong Drive vibes. Meanwhile, Shownu is styled in a simple black suit that could reference anything from Hitman to John Wick. Whatever the case we know they’re going to kill it in the full MV!
Minhyuk has already said that this is their most anticipated comeback since their massive hit Dramarama. And following the trailer’s release, Kihyun also took to their fancafe to tease fans some more, claiming that what we see in the teaser isn’t even “one-tenth” of the full MV. We don’t know how that could possibly be true, but one thing is for sure: none of us are making it through this comeback alive.
As always Monbebe Twitter exploded with excitement and creativity at the new teaser. Here are some of our favourite reactions!
So what do you think is going on with Monsta X in ‘Love Killa’? Could it be related to their previous timeline, or is it the start of something new? Let us know your theories in the comments below, @TheHoneyPOP on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. We’re dying to hear them!
