The Making of ‘Therefore I Am’ Song

She told Apple Music that ‘Therefore I Am’ is a single that feels most like her that she thinks will satisfy the fans.

“It feels like me. I feel like the rest of them also feel like me, but I think this one is more like … If I think about it from an outside perspective, this one I’d be satisfied if I was a fan,” she said.

As a track she loves, equally fun and “natural,” she reveals, she is also excited how it will be interpreted once ‘Therefore I Am’ is heard!

“You know, this song is very, very up for interpretation. I’m very curious to see what people get from it and also what they feel when they hear it. I don’t know. But yeah, it’s a little mean. I love it.” said Billie to Zane Lowe.

The Random Music Video Accompaniment

Of course, coupled with the thrilling new release of ‘Therefore I Am,’ is the music video! As with the song she also said the music video was fun to make too, which was shot entirely overnight on an iPhone with minimal crew.

“The video is just the way that the song feels to me of just kind of like careless and not really trying.” She said in the interview with Apple Music “It’s basically me running through the empty Glendale Galleria eating a donut and a pretzel. That’s literally it. But like random, chaotic, don’t care sh*t. And it was so fun.”

An Album Created Out of Quarantine

She revealed to Apple Music that the quarantine gifted her the most time Billie Eilish has ever had to create her next album. Especially since in normal circumstances she said she would have been planning a tour that either would have caused her not to make it at all or make the second album different than it is now.

“I mean, we would have made something, but it would have been completely different. It’s not like we’re making songs about quarantine, we’re just in a different mindset than we would be otherwise. And that’s just how everything is. It’s the butterfly effect.” Billie said.

What she described as a blessing and a curse, she ultimately is hopeful for her music and thrilled for the fans to hear it!

“I can’t wait for you to hear this sh*t. I can’t wait to have the world hear. I’m very excited and hopeful for the future.” She said.

Oh, girl, we can’t wait either!

Later in the episode, she then when on to discuss her thoughts on the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election, dove deep to reveal how she’s overcoming “feeling like a parody of herself” and getting back to fun after a serious year. Hear it from her here!
