There’s nothing like a good book to curl up and read on these cold autumns and winter nights. However, do you know what’s even better? When our favorite childhood books are turned into television shows. We can relive the glamour and wonder from the pages without having to repurchase the book. Disney+ is allowing us to relive the glamour of The Mysterious Benedict Society.
Originally developed for Hulu, The Mysterious Benedict Society decided to switch and will officially be released on Disney+ in 2021. The series is based on the bestselling book series by Trenton Lee Steward which came out in 2007. If you aren’t familiar with the books, don’t worry, we have the scoop. The Mysterious Benedict Society follows a group of orphans who are placed undercover at a boarding school and they must foil an evil plot that can have serious ramifications. The Mysterious Benedict Society first season will have a total of eight episodes.
Dana Walden, the chairman of Entertainment at Walt Disney Television expressed great excitement for the show, “The Mysterious Benedict Society is a beautifully executed adaptation of the celebrated and beloved book series. It’s original, clever, and fun for the whole family, which makes it the perfect fit for Disney+.”
The series is executively produced by Sonar Entertainment, 20th Television, Jamie Tarses, Karen Kehela Sherwood, Matt Manfredi (writer/creator), and Phil Hay (writer/creator). Showrunners for the series are Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin. The showrunners for it are Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer. As for the roles, the show will star Emmy® Award winner Tony Hale, Kristen Schaal, Ryan Hurst, MaameYaa Boafo, Gia Sandhu, Seth Carr, Emmy DeOliveira, Mystic Inscho, and Marta Timofeeva.
Since the launch of Disney+, the original content that we’ve been getting is amazing. We can’t wait to see the justice that is The Mysterious Benedict Society. We’re excited that we get to relive the glamour of The Mysterious Benedict Society pretty soon! It’ll be 2021 before we know it so we’ll be at the edge of our seats until then.
