Here Are Our Top 5 Picks From No Fun Mondays

We know you love covers, especially of classic songs, and why not throw Billie Joe Armstrong in the mix. You heard that right, he just released a 14 track album called No Fun Mondays. It’s filled with some of his favorite tracks from people such as Billy Bragg and Johnny Thunders.

We, at The Honey Pop, have taken it upon ourselves to put together a fun, small list of our favorite tracks from the album. FYI: this is just going to be in alphabetical order! Okay, let’s begin!

‘I Think We’re Alone Now’

‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ was written and produced by Ritchie Cordell, then later recorded by Tommy James and the Shondells. This track is pretty iconic and lowkey kinda creepy. It’s probably one of our favs from the album and one of our favorite covers of the track overall.

‘Manic Monday’

‘Manic Monday,’ a track by The Bangles, is honestly a track you will catch yourself singing without even knowing. It’s so good. It has the lower sound of the guitars and drums, but it honestly sounds close to the original; of course, it has its own twist.

‘That Thing You Do!’

‘That Thing You Do!’ is originally by The Wonders and what got the band their rise to stardom. Billie Joe’s version is 100% one you can picture in an early 2000s coming-of-age movie (specifically an indie one), which is why we love it!

‘That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll’

‘That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll’ was first recorded and written by Eric Carmen but was later covered by many artists such as Shaun Cassidy, who helped keep it charting. Now, the one and only Billie Joe Armstrong is covering it, and of course, the track has that Green Day sound we all love.

‘Whole Wide World’

‘Whole Wide World’ is another classic track from its original artist, Wreckless Eric. As usual, it keeps serving as an amazing cover by other artists. Every artist who has covered the song incorporated their own sounds into the track, and we love it. This cover, in particular, will most likely become everyone’s favorite.

Stream It

We know you love it as much as we do so if you want to stream his new album you can do it here. Unless you want to see where it all started and check out the full YouTube No Fun Mondays playlist.
