Harry Styles Received 3 Grammy Nominations
We can’t believe we’re saying this, but here we are. Following the global success of his second solo album, Fine Line, Harry received his first three Grammy Nominations on November 24th. Fine Line is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, ‘Adore You’ is competing for Best Music Video, and his hit single ‘Watermelon Sugar’ is in the running for the award of Best Pop Solo Vocal Performance. The Recording Academy of the Grammy Awards will reveal their winners on January 31st!
Harry Makes History By Being The First Man Ever To Be Vogue’s Cover On His Own
Not only is Harry a music star, but he’s also a fashion icon. Ever since the beginning of his solo career and his first world tour, fans have gotten used to seeing him wear extraordinary suits that always look incredible on him. However, it’s in a blue, lacy dress that Harry appears on the cover of Vogue’s December issue, thereby making history. Harry Styles is the first man in the magazine’s history to be featured on his own on the physical issue’s cover (Zayn had been the first man alone on the digital cover). Wearing a dress makes it even more iconic, translating his hope for a society blurring the lines between masculine and feminine.
‘Watermelon Sugar’ Is Harry’s First No.1 On Billboard’s Hot 100
‘Watermelon Sugar’ was officially out in November 2019, but it looks like it skyrocketed this year after the release of its music video in May. After quickly climbing the charts and bringing Harry a brand new audience, ‘Watermelon Sugar’ hit the first spot of Billboard’s Hot 100 in August, making it his first song to reach this peak. Even more impressive, the song went from No.7 to No.1 in a week, rising above some big names like The Weeknd and Billie Eilish. No one does it like Harry.
Fine Line Is The Most Streamed British Album Of The Year On Spotify
And we don’t talk about this enough. With a few big rivals, such as Dua Lipa and Lewis Capaldi, Harry made it to the 4th spot of the most streamed albums of 2020, right behind Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, and Post Malone. But that mostly makes Fine Line the most streamed British Album of 2020 on Spotify. It shouldn’t come as a surprise considering ‘Watermelon Sugar’ beat ‘Sign Of The Times’ number of streams and became Harry’s most-streamed song on Spotify with almost 950M streams.
After Dunkirk in 2017, Harry Is Back At Acting In Don’t Worry Darling
As if 2020 wasn’t enough of an eventful year for Harry, last summer brought us unexpected news. Olivia Wilde, the director of the upcoming thriller movie Don’t Worry Darling, revealed that Harry would co-star in it. And the rest of the cast is just as impressive, with notably Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, and Dakota Johnson. We don’t know much about the synopsis yet, except that the story will revolve around an unhappy housewife residing in an isolated Californian community. The shooting started in the early days of November. Harry is rumored to also be starring in an upcoming Amazon Movie called My Policeman.
A Year Full Of Awards
Let’s talk about awards first. The end of the year has been particularly intense for Harry, with his first American Music Award for Best Pop Album and his second Aria for International Artist with Fine Line. He also received a Global Award for his first single on Fine Line, ‘Lights Up,’ and a Billboard Achievement Award. Not only that, but Variety also crowned him Hitmaker Of The Year. Legendary, right?
Harry’s Streams And Views Skyrocketed, Reaching Milestones And Breaking Records
A few other achievements include the milestone of 5 billion streams reached on Spotify with his two solo albums. As for ‘Adore You,’ it remained on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 50 weeks in a row. Not to mention that his cover of Lizzo’s hit ‘Juice’ at BBC Live Lounge reached 1M likes, breaking the previous record. It’s not his fault that he’s that Man.
Fashion Icon Harry Is Back With Gucci
2020 also saw fashion icon Harry be part of episode 3 of the Gucci Series #GucciOuverture. He appeared wearing a pink printed tee-shirt with jeans shorts and gave fans something to munch on. Indeed, the scene shows him phoning a friend from the garden of a property. The pair may be having a deep and philosophical conversation, but we’ll be honest: we’ll mostly remember the look.
Harry Takes Part In The iHeart Radio Jingle Ball Livestream
Live music has obviously been immensely impacted by COVID, and Harry was no exception. He just announced that his Love On Tour was to be postponed for the second time, and while he paid his touring crew as if shows had happened, we’re missing him on stage. Therefore, like a few other artists, Harry took part in the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball and sang ‘Adore You,’ ‘Golden,’ and ‘Watermelon Sugar.’ That’s just what we needed 2020 to end.
Harry Gets In A New Business And Invests In The New Manchester Arena
If you needed one more reason to believe that Harry Styles made 2020 his year, here you go. After singing, acting, and modeling, Harry just started investing. He is reportedly one of the investors of the future Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester. Not only is it a way for him to support live music, but it’s also him showing he hasn’t forgotten where he belongs. The total cost of the structure goes up to £350M. The building should be ready by 2023, and Harry already hopes he’ll be able to play there!
