When we said Taylor Swift has outdone herself once again, we meant it. It’s hard to believe it’s only been a week and a half since she sent us all into panic mode with the announcement of her 9th studio album, evermore. Here at The Honey POP, we’re still listening to it on loop. In fact, it was a struggle to stop singing along, long enough to write this article. So it’s no surprise to us it’s been a major success. But this queen keeps impressing even the most loyal Swifties with her achievements. Join us as we celebrate just a handful of her most recent highlights!
In less than a week since the release of evermore, Taylor Swift’s second surprise album of 2020 had already surpassed one million sales worldwide. This is her eighth consecutive album to achieve the milestone. As it follows the iconic Fearless, Speak Now, RED, 1989, reputation, Lover, and folklore. What makes this even more mind-blowing? She managed it on streaming and digital downloads alone, since physical copies of the record weren’t available until after the cutoff. Legends only. Not to mention global streams of evermore have already reached half a billion (and we’re only, like, half of that).
Unsurprisingly, these figures meant the release swept the #1 spots on the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, and Top Alternative Albums charts, as well as being the most streamed Pop Album of the week. This made evermore the biggest debut on the Billboard charts since their rule change in October. With evermore also debuting at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, she continues her reign as the only female artist of the 21st century to have six back-to-back albums top the country’s chart. And the Brits weren’t the only ones loving Taylor’s latest offering, as it topped the iTunes chart in over 75 countries!
An Un-skippable Album
As un-skippable as the entire album is, we can tell ‘willow’ is one of Taylor’s favorite tracks, and honestly same. This beauty has already been streamed more than 100 million times (in 10 days), propelling it to the top of the iTunes, Spotify, and Apple Music singles charts. Not to mention, making it her seventh #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Although somehow we feel like every one of her songs deserves that crown.
With evermore taking first place on the Billboard 200 and ‘willow’ scoring number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Taylor Swift becomes the only artist in history to simultaneously debut atop both charts… twice in one year. It’s only been four months since she became the first person ever to achieve this honor with folklore and ‘cardigan’ respectively. These sister albums are really out there doing it all, with folklore ending 2020 as the #1 Selling Album of the Year, with more than 4 million sales to her name.
Incidentally, folklore and evermore also boast the shortest gap between new No. 1 albums by a woman since the Billboard 200 became a thing. Plus Taylor currently holds #1 on the Billboard 200 with evermore and #3 with folklore, which crowns her the first woman to have two albums in the Top 3 since 1963. Honestly, we cannot wait for her to break more records like this because in this house, we stan successful women!
All Thanks To The Fans
Speaking of which, can we just say how proud we are that Taylor owns her albums with the top three debuts on Amazon Music and the most critical acclaim? Because we’re so proud. Lover, folklore, and evermore may be works of art, but she credits someone else for her success. Her fans. She took to Twitter to thank Swifties for buying and streaming her music. If there’s one thing we don’t need to be thanked for it’s listening to Taylor Swift’s beautiful music, but we appreciate her sweet gesture just the same.
Can’t get enough of Taylor Swift and evermore? Check these out while you wait!
