Everybody say thank you to Nicholas for starting this new year with one of the best debut singles we’ve heard in a while. If the name Nicholas Hamilton seems familiar to you, it’s probably because he played Henry Bowers in the Stephen King‘s cult classic film, IT. Both parts of the horror classic were massive successes and gave Nicholas this platform to pursue his passions.
Upon the first listen to this song we instantly related to it after the year we’ve all endured. There are so many lyrics in this song we have to talk about! “I could have sworn July was yesterday” is a feeling we have all had this last year as it has felt like the shortest and longest of our lives. And then, of course, you have the lyric that has been replaying in our heads. “If I go to sleep could I wake up in a different year?” Talk about a way to sum up the year that was 2020. Nicholas has made the perfect track to close out one time period and start another. He takes us through, describing spending birthdays and holidays alone, which was some of what was hardest about this pandemic. We haven’t heard anyone put that to music quite as well as Nicholas managed to.
When we heard this was his debut single, we were blown away by how refined everything sounded. We truly believe that after this stellar track, Nicholas is going to have a long career in the music industry. Hopefully, this year will be full of experiences he deems worth writing about, and we can get more music.
As 2020 ended here at The Honey POP, we made a year-end list of some of our favorite songs, and you can check that out here!
