Nostalgia, what a funny feelin’
I feel depleted from feelings I’ve been revealin’
These are the opening lines of Zayn Malik’s brand new album, Nobody Is Listening. This album is Zayn’s third studio album, and it’s every bit as fantastic as the first two. The release of ‘Better’ late last year marked the beginning of Zayn’s new era, and we’ve been anxiously awaiting the rest of the album.
It’s no surprise that this album has already blown us away within the first day of its release. Every song Zayn drops is a hit, let’s be real. Nobody Is Listening is full of the classic R&B/electropop vibes we’ve come to love from Zayn. Hehe, get it, vibes? If you don’t get the joke, check out the album ;). The tracks on this album explore the themes of love, sex, and relationships with tracks like ‘When Love’s Around’ ft. Syd, ‘Connexion’, and ‘Sweat’ are slow, sultry, and exactly the type of songs we can imagine being serenaded by.
I’m missin you tonight
I’m wishin you were right here
Based on these tracks alone, we know that Zayn would treat us right, Gigi is one lucky girl! Also, can we take a minute to appreciate the album art? The album title is Nobody Is Listening, but the cover art features faces that are watching. Perhaps that’s a message, that you can have all eyes on you, but nobody hears you or understands what you’re going through.
Then, you also have tracks like ‘Unfuckwitable’. First of all, we love the title and the message behind this track.
Can’t nobody take me home
Yeah, I’m worth my weight in gold
Forget whatever you’ve been told
I am unfuckwitable, unfuckwitable
We’re all for Zayn owning up to his talent and amazing musical prowess, he’s unfuckwitable, and he knows it! As he should! Normally, tracks with a similar message are more upbeat or uptempo, but ‘Unfuckwitable’ follows the same laid back, mellow R&B vibe as the rest of the album. We think that’s perfect. What better way for Zayn to remind everyone who he is than with his distinct style?
Another one of our favorite tracks on Nobody Is Listening is ‘Tightrope,’ for more reasons than you might think! It’s no secret that Zayn appreciates his Pakistani roots. He’s been vocal about his love for Bollywood music and has even released a few covers of popular Bollywood songs in the past. He brings that love to ‘Tightrope’ with the inclusion of snippets of ‘Chaudhvin Ka Chand,’ a Bollywood song from the 60s. Zayn himself sings these lines in Urdu. We didn’t need the reminder that he sounds flawless no matter what because we already know, but it was nice to have. We love that Zayn decided to include these lines in this beautiful track. His voice is wonderfully suited to singing in Urdu/Hindi, and we wouldn’t mind hearing more of it in the future!
If you were curious, here’s the English translation of those lines:
Are you the full moon or the sun?
Whatever you are, I swear to God, you are beyond compare
We could talk about Nobody Is Listening for hours, but we’d rather you spend all that time streaming the album! Zayn has given us another phenomenal era as usual, and we here at The Honey POP have lots of love to give him!
