Country queen Maren Morris and Canadian pop sensation and multi-instrumentalist JP Saxe have united and put out a collaborative single titled ‘Line By Line’ via Arista Records. Following the success of previous mega-hit ‘If The World Was Ending’ and ‘Kissin’ In The Cold,’ both of which feature Julia Michaels. This brand new song will be featured on JP’s forthcoming album, which is due to release later this year. In the latest single, being described as a love song for songs, they sing about a love that’s so inspiring and deep that it can’t possibly be captured in one song.
While JP Saxe has a knack for lyrically tapping into deep connectivity with universal emotion and human experience in his song’s, Maren Morris has become one of the leading female voices in modern music with her incredible vocal styling and honest songwriting talent. The track arrived with an accompanying and aesthetically pleasing music video. In the video, the singers are serenading each other and lost in the beauty of music. Watch the official music video below!
Even being a crucial step in the creative process of music-making, songwriting is often overlooked and rarely gets a spotlight. Maren and JP share the passion for the art of creating songs and music, hence why these two Grammy-nominated singer-songwriters collaborated to serve us a melodious treat for our ears while chasing their muse. ‘Line By Line’ also enlisted and credited Nashville-based singer-songwriter and producer Jimmy Robbins with whom Saxe and Morris penned down such intricate and emotive lyrics.
JP Saxe detailed the recent release in a statement via the press release. According to him,
My first thought about this song is that it’s surreal I get to be sharing it with one of my favourite artists ever. Regarding what it’s about…as songwriters, we spend a lot of our lives trying to bottle up a feeling into a song, and often, the biggest feelings, the best ones… the complicated, detailed, messy, incredible ones… just aren’t going to fit. “Line by Line” is our recognition of that… of how one song just isn’t enough to capture it all, but how we’re just going to keep writing, futilely and lovingly, anyway.JP Saxe
While Maren Morris shared her love for expressing emotions through songwriting, she said,
I have always loved being contemplative of the artist vs. muse relationship in songs. ‘Line by Line’ acts as a promise that I’ll never be done writing about my muse in this life because he can’t be summed up in one song. Writing that day with JP was the most fluid, inspiring session. He’s a lyrical faucet. He threw out the line ‘immortalizing my sincerity’ and it blew my mind. I think, all in all, we wrote the whole song in an hour and immediately recorded it.Maren Morris
Maren and JP also appeared in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe promoting their single where they shared their experiences. They said that working together was mostly effortless, as they co-wrote ‘Line By Line’ during a two-day write over the summer with Jimmy Robbins. And as they both share a love of introspection and the power of a song, they clicked immediately.
