Marvel’s WandaVision Is Finally Here!

Listen up, Marvel fans, we finally have something new from Marvel Studios! After not releasing anything since April 2019, the release of Avengers: Endgame, we now have WandaVision! The new series is a blend of classic television and the MCU. The title characters, Wanda and Vision, move to the suburbs, soon realizing that everything isn’t what it seems. With the release, we’re able to see the first two episodes of the series. With that being said, we have so much to discuss, so let’s get into it, shall we.

Episode One

Starting off the episode, we see the newlywed couple begin their new lives in Westview during the ’50s. Vision is headed off to work, as Wanda is cleaning and putting away dishes. Seems normal, right? We are also introduced to Vision’s boss and his wife, the Hart’s, and a seemingly nosy neighbor (don’t we all have those?) Agnes.

Mid-way through the episode, the Hart family joins Vision and Wanda for dinner. It may have had a chaotic beginning to their night, as dinner seemed to go awry, Wanda seemed to pull it off with the use of her magic. As the Hart’s asked questions to get to know Wanda and Vision, the latter couldn’t answer. There seemed to be a darker twist as Mr. Hart began to choke and fall over, his wife repeating, “stop it.” Vision then came to the rescue to save his boss after being told to by Wanda.

Episode Two

Fast forward a decade, changes happen, including house style and decor, even clothes, as Wanda is wearing pants. The main point for the episode is Wanda and Vision try to fit into their new neighborhood. Vision goes to the neighborhood watch meeting, Wanda goes to a planning committee meeting, and the two perform in a talent show. We are also introduced to neighbors Dottie and Geraldine, who might play a bigger role than we thought.

There are many important things to look for, including the mysterious helicopter in the bushes. During the talent show, Vision shows up a mess as he accidentally swallows a piece of gum. Wanda is able to help him as they both use some of their powers to make things seem more normal. Their performance seems to be a hit as they win the Comedy Performance of the Year Award. Later on, Wanda and Vision discuss the day’s events at home while sitting on the couch. Then all of a sudden, Wanda is pregnant as she stands. There is also a big twist at the end: we see a man coming out of the sewer drain in the street, and then everything is in color.

Things To Keep An Eye On In Future WandaVision Episodes

Many things have left us scratching our heads and wanting more, but we have a feeling that’ll keep happening. We came up with a few things that seem to be important:

  • Ads — In the episodes, there are ads for a toaster from Stark Industries and a watch from Strucker that also says Hydra. Stark Industries and Strucker/Hydra both have important roles in the MCU.
  • S.W.O.R.D. — While in the first episode, it seems that someone is watching Wanda and Vision. We can see their logo in the background, and it appears on the helicopter that Wanda finds in episode two.
  • Geraldine — When introducing herself to Wanda, Geraldine didn’t know her name until they shook hands. Fan theories speculate that she is a grown-up Monica Rambeau, who we met in Captain Marvel, and is working for S.W.O.R.D.
  • Beekeeper — In episode two, we see a beekeeper emerge from the sewers. The outfit is associated with the AIM organization- a group eager to take over the world and establish a technocracy. AIM appeared in Iron Man 3, and there are hints that it could still be active.
  • Color — Every time that we saw a hint of color, it was red. Associating the color with Scarlet Witch herself, could it be that she’s in control?
  • The Radio — Wanda helps Dottie clean up at the end of the planning committee meeting, where they stand next to a radio. There is a message coming in from the outside world. “Wanda? Who is doing this to you, Wanda?”

Well, folks, that’s it on the premiere of WandaVision! We can’t wait to see what’s to come with the series, but in the meantime, you can re-watch the episodes or other Marvel content.
