Tate McRae Blows Us Away With Latest Single ‘rubberband’

Here at The Honey POP, we are mega Tate McRae fans! Everything she releases from ‘you broke me first’ to her newest track ‘rubberband’ is killer.

Tate is an artist that has set herself apart from so many other artists because of the unique time that she’s risen to fame. 2020 was quite the year, but if you’ve been following Tate’s journey, you know it didn’t slow her down.

Listening to this song and reading the lyrics paints a clear picture of the phrase ‘you never know what you have till it’s gone.’ It’s a scenario you don’t see play out in songs too often where the writer is the one that did the heartbreaking. Tate deals so beautifully in this song with going through the feelings of complete regret. The image of snapping a ‘rubberband’ every time you think about someone to try and train yourself not to think about them is so impactful. Honestly, Tate never fails with impressive songwriting.

The beat of the song is something we’ve come to love from Tate. Upbeat but with deep lyrics. It’s a formula that never fails.

The video the accompanies this song is just as stellar! The orange-yellow tones on one end and blue-black on the other set the mood perfectly. And come on choreography! Tate did that! The point in the video where Tate looks at her hand first just kind of hit us differently, what a beautiful moment.

We would love to hear from you! What do you think of ‘rubberband?’ What was your favorite part of the music video? Let us know by commenting down below or tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP! We are also on Facebook and Instagram!
