Ever since the song dropped back in September, we’ve been vibing to the MAX and SUGA collab ‘Blueberry Eyes,’ because, let’s face it, it’s an entire bop. We’ve since got an epic remix by none other than Steve Aoki, which was the closest we’ve felt like we’ve been on a night out in forever. Now, Lil Mosey and Olivia O’Brien have been recruited in what MAX calls “the final chapter.”
Speaking about the new additions to the track, MAX said: “Having Lil Mosey, the mastermind behind ‘Blueberry Faygo,’ add his story to ‘Blueberry Eyes’ felt too iconic not to create the ultimate blueberry hit song.”
“The cherry on top is getting to add the legendary voice of my friend Olivia O’Brien. I’m so excited for this final chapter of ‘Blueberry Eyes’ with my brother SUGA and honored to work with all of these incredible artists on this new version of the song.”
A music video full of retro-vibes also was released alongside the remix that truly fits into the 80s theme we saw a lot of pop embrace in their concepts last year, and honestly, the aesthetic is just chef’s kiss.
‘Blueberry Eyes’ has been the hit single from MAX’s third studio album Colour Vision and has been a real fan favorite for the past four months, garnering more than 130 million global streams and 30 million views on YouTube. Not only that, it’s currently on Top 40 radio and has trended on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 and U.S. Viral 50 charts. Not bad, right? Not to mention the Steve Aoki remix accumulating more than 5 million global streams and 2 million views on YouTube. Can we say a smash?
While it seems to be the last release of the song, we’re crossing all our fingers for MAX and SUGA to collab again, having fallen in love with the duo when MAX featured on SUGA’s alias’s mixtape D-2 on the song ‘Burn It,’ and the pair have proven to be great friends this past year. Hopefully, post-COVID, we will someday be treated to a live performance of them together! We can dream, right?
