Shamil is one of those artists who kind of came out of nowhere. Still, his songs have rapidly gained traction in the underground music scene, especially with those who hold an affinity for pop and R&B. Ever since we heard his song “Sohana” on Lyrical Lemonade, we’ve been obsessed with Shamil‘s music. Everything from his vocal tone to his flow and delivery to his ear for production screams “wiser than my years.” That’s why we were shocked to hear the artist is still so young and is only just starting his career in music!
His newest song, ‘Who Could Blame Me,’ however, takes things to new levels for the burgeoning singer-songwriter. In just 2:52, Shamil transports the listeners to a lovelorn soundscape where unrequited love is the name of the game and convenient lust is just the way life goes sometimes. Every verse is like switching to the other side of the pillow; it only gets cooler, yet it’s different every time. Even the chorus and hook breakdown in the song’s waning moments.
