We thought we would never get to see this version of Cinderella make an appearance on Disney+. Is a plain yellow pumpkin turning into a golden carriage? Possible! Are four white mice turning into four white horses? Possible! Disney+ adding Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella? Impossible! UNTIL TODAY! Okay, okay, keep cool, keep cool! We’re NOT going to freak out! Oh, who are we kidding? We are totally stoked! We’ve hoped and dreamed and begged for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella to be added to the streaming platform’s lineup, and our fairy godmother must’ve heard us because- IT IS HAPPENING!

If you don’t remember, this version of the classic tale stars Brandy, Whitney Houston, Whoopi Goldberg, and more as they portray all our favorite characters in their version of Cinderella. It first aired in 1997, and it is, truthfully, probably our favorite version of the tale! It has the most amazing soundtrack, an all-star lineup of diverse characters, and overall it’s just a great movie! It will join the Celebrate Black Stories collection that is on Disney+ alongside Soul, Black Is King, Black Panther, Hidden Figures, and many more.
We have already gotten all our snacks ready to go and cleared our calendars because this version flies onto Disney+ on February 12th! If you’re not already subscribed to the service, GET TO IT! You’re not going to want to miss feeling the nostalgia that comes along with this movie, or if you’ve never seen it, the magic this version holds!
