Dubbed a “collection of sensual R&B” tracks by Apple Music, Homegrown released on Friday, February 5th by Keep Cool/RCA Records. Following their debut album from 2018, Silk Canvas, the nine-song collection shines brightly on what they do best. Filled with throwback 90s melodies and sultry vocals, the EP continues to receive critical acclaim, emphasizing its “unique soul/funk” by The FADER and its “fire” power by Entertainment Weekly. If you’ve been listening to their EP non-stop since it was released, you can feel the 90s influences etched in each track. Artists such as Brandy, SWV, and Jodeci have been an inspiration for VanJess, their music, and why they became musicians.

If you have yet to listen to Homegrown, do yourself a favor and listen to this brilliant EP! A few of our favorite songs include ‘Come Over,’ a feel-good R&B jam perfect for Valentine’s Day, and ‘Slow Down,’ a slower track, as the title implies. VanJess and their sultry vocals sing about coming over, wasting no time, yet taking it slow. We see you, VanJess! Ultimately, the EP has become one of our favorites, and we hope you love it too. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
