Carrie Underwood’s love for gospel music, shines through in her newly dropped track listing, for her 8th studio album My Savior, and we at The Honey Pop, could not be more excited!
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to record an album of my favorite gospel hymns, and after #MyGift felt like the perfect time to make it happen. It’s called #MySavior and it will be here March 26, just in time for Easter! ✨🙏— Carrie Underwood (@carrieunderwood) January 19, 2021

Following on from the success of her first-ever Christmas album My Gift which was released last year; My Savior promises a celebration of gospel music, sang with the effortless and warm vocals, which cemented Carrie as one of the most celebrated country music stars in the world. The 13 song tracklist, features covers of some of the world’s most loved gospel songs and hymns. Dredged in Carrie Underwood’s nostalgia and love for these songs, with memories of growing up singing these hymns as a child, both in church and back on Carrie’s family farm in Checotah, Oklahoma.
This is an album I have always wanted to record. When I set out to choose these songs, I wanted to include the beautiful, familiar hymns I grew up singing in church. There are several songs I have performed in the past, like ‘Softly And Tenderly,’ ‘How Great Thou Art’ and ‘Amazing Grace’ that means so much to me and I knew immediately we needed to record for the album. This music shaped who I am as a person and is the foundation of my career as a recording artist. I feel so blessed to get to share these songs with generations of people who love them as I do, as well as others who might be experiencing them for the first time.Carrie Underwood
Not only was the album recorded with some of the most talented musicians Nashville has to offer, but it’s serving us some fire collaborations too. Seven-time GRAMMY® winner Carrie has teamed up with CeCe Winans, the best-selling and most-awarded female gospel artist of all time, on the classic hymn, ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness,’ and we cannot wait to hear what these two strong, spiritual, and uplifting powerhouses, do together on this track. We’re also living for the support they have been showing each other on Twitter too!
Thank you @carrieunderwood for inviting me to sing with you on this amazing project. It was an honor to be a part. Also, thank you again for coming to sing for my online concert next week. ❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/3Kez1M5Zgu— CeCe Winans (@cecewinans) February 12, 2021
Also featuring on the album is Singer/Songwriter Bear Rinehart. Bear, who fronts the rock band, NEEDTOBREATHE, joins Carrie on another traditional hymn, in the comforting harmonies of ‘Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus.’ Are we about to get a traditional gospel hymn, but with a rock influence? Because we are so here for that!
My Savior is co-produced and arranged by Carrie, alongside GRAMMY® Award winner David Garcia. With this news, we’re even more excited! David, who is a multi-platinum selling, four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning record producer and songwriter, to name but a few accolades, also co-produced one of our favorite Carrie Underwood albums of all time: Cry Pretty. As Carrie Underwood fans, many of us will remember hearing Cry Pretty‘s tracks live for the first time. For this The Honey Pop writer, it was at Manchester Arena in England, and we’re pretty sure our soul left our body, so as you can imagine, we at THP HQ, will probably be ugly crying with the duo’s latest album collaboration too. We cannot wait to hear what magic this pair can create together once again.

Browsing through the tracklist, track 8 quickly catches our eye. We’re transported back to Carrie having us in tears, with one of our favorite live performances ever: ‘How Great Though Art,’ at the 2015 ACM Girls Night Out awards show. It’s an absolute favorite of ours here at The Honey Pop, and we’re finally getting a studio recording of this beautiful song. We’re not crying. You’re crying.
My Savior drops worldwide on March 26th, 2021 on CD and digital, with vinyl’s coming soon after, on April 30th, 2021.
But that’s not all. Obsessed with merch? Good, us too! Carrie has also released a limited edition CD and T-shirt box set to add to your stan merch collection, which we know has officially taken over most of your bedroom… No? Just us then!
Can’t wait for album release day? Neither can we! So we’re very thankful that Carrie is keeping us fed! In anticipation of the album release, Carrie has also dropped her first single from the album – ‘Softly and Tenderly’ is out now. Get your hands on the digital single here, or as an instant gratitude track when you pre-order your digital copy of the My Savior album! Carrie first performed this beloved hymn during the moving In Memoriam tribute at the 51st Annual CMA Awards, which she hosted with Brad Paisley in 2017. A truly beautiful single, to set the mood for this spiritual, light, and positive album.
We love the new single here at THP HQ, and we cannot wait for album release day, when we’ll be sitting in our feelings, in our lockdown sweatpants, with a cuppa tea (well, this The Honey Pop writer is British after all!), soaking up these uplifting gospel songs, and of course, melting to the stunning vocals of one of the most talented country music stars of a generation.
