If you love artists like Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi allow us to introduce you to Tom Odell. He has this incredibly beautiful voice that can instantly calm you. It’s so smooth and powerful in its own right and we are perfectly content with listening to his music all day. As we all know slower songs just hit differently. There is something so vulnerable and intangible about the vibe to Tom’s newest single ‘Numb’. You can hear the emotion behind his voice which is a huge part of it.
And don’t you worry, the lyrical content isn’t lacking here at all. In fact, it’s heartbreaking. The feeling of numbness after a breakup is one so many of us can sadly relate to. Tom puts it to words in a way only true wordsmith can. The line “You see I gave you all my heart and now I hate love” hits way too close to home.
This video is so intimate. It’s a close-up shot of Tom for the whole video and while normally we’re skeptical of a video like this, this works so well here. It matches the intensity and raw vibe of the song to a tee. It feels like Tom is quite literally staring into our soul. Honestly? We’re not mad about it.
But don’t take our word for it, check out ‘numb’ on any streaming platform! You can download it here — and while you’re at it, check out the rest of Tom’s stuff! Trust us, honey. You won’t regret it.
