It’s no surprise that here at The Honey Pop, we are massive Tate McRae fans. She has proven over the last year to be one of the hottest rising stars and with her new EP, Too Young To Be Sad set to release on March 26th it doesn’t appear she is going to be slowing down in any way.
Tate McRae released her newest single ‘Slower,’ and as usual, we were so impressed. She never fails to kill it so what else were we to expect? One thing you can always be sure to take from a Tate McRae song is that she wears her heart on her sleeve when it comes to her music. Her emotion in her voice is so clear and even more clear in her lyrics!
Tate McRae starts off the song strong with the line “Playing cool makes me lose my mind.” It’s such an accurate look into how suppressing emotions and acting like all is well but can drive you mad. This whole track is a look into the fear that as you are ever-changing that your partner will become uninterested. The concept of maybe just taking things ‘Slower’ so that you really get to know the ins and outs of a person and so you have that time to decide if the relationship is right is just genius.

Aside from the release of ‘Slower’ Tate McRae fans have something else to celebrate, Tate has been named the Apple Music Up Next Artist for March.
Watching Tate’s Up Next interview with Travis Mills just made us stan even harder. Hearing about how passionate Tate McRae is about dancing aside from music makes it so clear that her So You Think You Can Dance roots and her countless hours of dance practice haven’t made her lose the love of the craft. It’s so interesting to hear Tate McRae talk about how quickly her life changed. You Broke Me First went viral seemingly overnight and the next thing she knows she has upwards of 11 record labels trying to get in on the action.
But, as Travis said best “Tate McRae is an artist in every sense of the word” so this sudden fame didn’t act as a distraction from creating. Tate continually puts out songs we will have on repeat for weeks. It’s certainly no surprise why Apple Music has chosen Tate to be their Up Next Artist.
