Yungblud partners with Vevo to give fans an exclusive behind the scenes of video ‘acting like that’ featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker for the latest installment of Vevo Footnotes.
We know it, we love it, we’ve watched it one thousand times. Yungblud’s ‘acting like that’ is magical all on its own, but when the holy trinity gets together, the sexy just gets amplified. Featuring MGK and Travis Barker, we NEVER complain about content from this perfect platonic threesome.
The sixth single from Yungblud’s recent release Weird! naturally holds close to us here at THP. Why? Because it’s not only kickass, but it contains the faces of three of our absolute favorites. In Vevo Footnotes, Yungblud reveals that the video was conceptualized mid-pandemic. Naturally, like most of our favorite artists, he had to find a way to make it work even though the team stood continents apart. Shooting his scenes in Greenwich, London – MGK and Barker’s took place in Downtown, LA.
Depicting a zombie apocalypse was Yungblud’s way to relate to the pandemic that the world has fought against the past year.
Yungblud – The Making of ‘acting like that’ | Vevo Footnotes
Not their first collaboration, Yungblud reflects on how he and MGK became fast friends. A quick call followed by plans set, he quickly found his way to MGK’s home. No knocks, he headed straight to the living room saying…
“Have you seen the machine gun?…”
“I think we wrote, ‘I Think I’m Okay’ that night,” he continues. The collaboration was featured on MGK’s 2010 album Hotel Diablo.
Directed by himself and manager Gavin, the pair improvised relatable semi-spooky videography from their once planned ‘slick and sexy.’ Finding inspiration from the classic Shaun Of The Dead, we watch as they jam out AND take on zombies. Is there anything these boys can’t do?
Sending life into the soul of pop-punk, Yungblud finished the footnotes by saying, “I think sonically it’s old school pop-punk in a new way with 808s. The scene that’s going on right now, which Travis is very much a part of, is insane. It’s incredible pop-punk coming back to the mainstream.”
Obvious pop-punk stans, we couldn’t agree more and love everything they’ve done and will continue to do for the scene. We’ve worshiped, now it’s your turn! C’mon, tell us what you’re thinking of Yungblud’s footnotes. Comment down below or give us a shout on Twitter @TheHoneyPOP
