Okay, if you’re a K-pop stan (or music fan in general, really) and haven’t taken the time to watch at least one ATEEZ performance, we’re going to highly suggest that you do so. And actually, you’re in luck, because last week, the eight-member boy group released their sixth mini-album, ZERO : FEVER Part.2. Trust us when we say that this is one comeback you do not want to miss out on.
Before we get into the new album, we’re going to backtrack a bit to their last comeback, ZERO : FEVER Part.1. You see, one of the amazing things about ATEEZ is that their albums and MV’s are all connected. When the boys started this new chapter in their discography last year, we actually got a little hint of what was to come at the end of the MV for ‘THANXX.’ If you have already listened to their new title track, ‘Fireworks (I’m The One),’ you may have recognized the song’s intro as the same instrumental we heard from the ‘THANXX’ MV. Yep, it’s all connected, and it has us amazed and ready to dive into this next chapter of the FEVER series.
“I’m the one in my zone…”
Finding themselves in a cold and barren land, the MV for their lead single sees ATEEZ reigniting their once lost spark (quite literally, as everything becomes set on fire). The track starts with a more toned-down instrumental but gradually grows as we get to the pre-choruses (featuring Mingi’s rap verse and the other Hongjoong’s), then setting off to an EDM-filled chorus that you can’t help but be energized by. It very much tells the story of slowly finding one’s spark again through the gradual build-up we hear throughout the song, and the MV for this track only further showcases that. As in typical ATEEZ fashion, we are captivated by their ability to provide us with unique choreography and how they deliver it. Combined with their styling for this era, it is no surprise that this is what ATEEZ has become known for.
The rest of the album is just as captivating. Filled with various genres mixed with EDM/synth-beats, ATEEZ delivers us that ‘noise’ music they have become known for. We’re given tracks such as the hard-hitting ‘Leaders,’ to the more playful and pop-sounding ‘Time Of Love,’ and the uplighting ‘Celebrate’ (quick shout out to Jongho, because that high note, wow). The middle track for this album, ‘Take Me Home,’ has quickly become a favorite among ATINY (and us). 80’s influenced and filled with synth beats, plus a saxophone to close it out, we can’t help but be obsessed with this track, to put it lightly.
With the bonus of ‘Take Me Home – English Version’ and ‘I’m The One – HEAT-TOPPING Version,’ ZERO : FEVER Part.2 comes full-circle. The album continues the reputation that ATEEZ have had since their debut; the ability to create a story and a sound that is all their own. It has played a role in ATEEZ becoming the sensations they find themselves to be. With the album debuting at No. 8 on the Billboard World Chart and topping the Hanteo Charts, we think it’s safe to say that the world is ready to see ATEEZ dominate the industry. You know that we are.
