If you’re into chaos and sticky situations, then you’ve come to the right place! The Maine is serving up that sticky, sweet goodness on a silver platter. The band has just dropped a new song called ‘Sticky’ and to accompany it, a sweet and indulgent music video! After years of being stans of The Maine, we honestly would expect nothing less than chaotic, fun energy. To be honest, we kind of live for that.
The video for ‘Sticky’ features The Maine (duh!) performing with their usual high-energy demeanor and finding themselves in some sticky situations like REALLY sticky. Pretty much every situation you can think of: googly eyes stuck all over them, tied up in rope, rubberbands around their heads, honey/molasses dumped over them, duct-taped to the floor, lollipop’s stuck to their skin, and… well, you get the idea. But our favorite sticky situation in the entire video is the one they are singing about! The song itself is about that one person you just can’t seem to stop thinking about, that person that seems to stay stuck in your head. It’s not only catchy, but the meaning is relatable and adorable, while the vocals are up to their typical, high standards of swoon-worthy and intoxicating. Overall, it’s THP approved! Check out the video below and go stream the song here!
We also want to say how much we loved watching the premiere/launch party for this video. The video messages from the members were so beautiful and heartfelt, it gave us a behind-the-scenes look and made us further appreciate how much hard work and dedication goes into these absolutely phenomenal videos. Angela Kohler did an incredible job directing this video and the rest of the video crew nailed it- it all came together flawlessly!
Anyway, this song is just the start of what’s to come for The Maine this year, as they are also gearing up to release their eighth studio album, XOXO: From Love And Anxiety In Real Time, and you can expect single releases galore in the lead up to its release! We can already tell it’s going to be one of their best albums so far in their career- we just know these things! About the album, the band’s lead vocalist John, says:
This album is quite literally a real-time dive into the duality of love and anxiety in my life. They are such opposing feelings, but they coexist all the time in my head. Life is a funny thing, but I believe everything is exactly as it should be. For my two cents, XOXO is all of the best parts of The Maine. Just the right amount of ambition and nostalgia. It can be an easy listen or a hard look into the mirror. I hope it’s whatever you need it to be.
