As we head into summer we’re going to need all the serotonin we can get. There’s something about these songs that just bring an instant smile to anyone who listens to them. They’re very representative of all the best parts of summer; sunshine, good vibes, falling in love, and we just can’t get enough!
There are some songs that just bring an overwhelming sense of serotonin whenever they’re played. They make you want to dance in a field of flowers or live the cottage core life or drive down the pacific coast highway with the windows down and wind in your hair. These tracks will certainly be on repeat all summer long.
Reiley – ‘Let it Ring’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Reiley” song=”Let It Ring”]
The birds chirping at the beginning of the song automatically puts us in that summer mindset. This track is super upbeat and the ultimate moving on song. Reiley is an artist we’ve gotten to see grow on TikTok and listening to his track in its entirety just makes us so proud. We truly can’t wait to have this on repeat over the next few months. If you’re looking for a song that has a bit of a unique sound to it and isn’t quite like any other track on this list this is the track for you! And yes, we caught that iPhone ring and we loved it.
George Ezra – ‘Pretty Shining People’
[apple_music_ad artist=”George Ezra” song=”Pretty Shining People”]
Right from the top of the song, it feels like pure summer. It’s so bright and the perfect road trip song. George Ezra’s voice instantly puts us in the best mood, the talent is just otherworldly. And once that chorus hits, all bets are off. You just can’t help but want to be screaming the words with wind flowing through your hair as the sun beams down on you. It’s a unifying song about how we’re “all right together,” a message that is more important now than ever.
Bleachers – ‘Rollercoaster’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Bleachers” song=”Rollercoaster”]
We could listen to this song every day for the rest of our lives. That’s how much-unadulterated joy it brings us. Bleachers as a whole are killer at making the best feel-good music. Just look at songs like ‘I Wanna Get Better’ or ‘Wild Hearts’ as even further proof. ‘Rollercoaster’ was perfectly placed on the Love, Simon soundtrack which just adds to our love for it. That movie is such a comfort movie that it turned this song into one we automatically associate with that comfort.
Troye Sivan (feat. Alessia Cara) – ‘Wild’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Troye Sivan feat. Alessia Cara” song=”Wild”]
It’s hard to believe we’ve been able to have this song on our summer playlists for 5 years. We just want to dance whenever we hear ‘Wild,’ it has some of the best beats and lyrics. It’s for sure a summer night’s song and makes the perfect soundtrack to memories you’ll never forget. The song with just Troye Sivan is of course incredible, but adding Alessia into the mix took the song to the next level. Nothing will ever compare to hearing this chorus for the first time, it hits so hard.
Yellowcard – ‘Ocean Avenue’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Yellowcard” song=”Ocean Avenue”]
There was no way we could make a playlist about summer songs that give us a serotonin boost and not include the ultimate summer song. ‘Ocean Avenue’ appeared in so many teen movies, that we feel like we grew up with this track as a staple in our music libraries. 18 years after its release and it still lives up to how good it’s always been. It’s become a song that just makes us feel nostalgic and warm inside. Yellowcard ruled the early 2000’s and we stand by that.
Lizzo – ‘Good As Hell’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Lizzo” song=”Good As Hell”]
If you’re looking for the ultimate pick me up and self-confidence boost here you are! We are filled with maximum serotonin every time we listen to Lizzo hype us up. The line “if he don’t love you anymore walk your fine ass out the door” is the energy we are taking into making summer 2021 a hot girl summer. This track will make you wake up and realize Lizzo means business when it comes to her vocals, they are unreal here!
Taylor Swift – ‘August’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Taylor Swift” song=”August”]
This track will be on repeat the second ‘August’ comes around. It’s such a serene song that screams summer in a beach town like the one Taylor Swift resides in, the great state of Rhode Island. And that bridge? Just further proves no one even comes close to touching Taylor Swift when we’re talking about songwriting. She reigns supreme.
BTS (feat. Halsey) – ‘Boy With Luv’
[apple_music_ad artist=”BTS feat. Halsey” song=”Boy With Luv”]
You can’t tell us this song doesn’t fill you with serotonin instantly. It’s so upbeat and bright and just screams summer! Halsey’s voice compliments the group’s sound so well. They truly were meant to collaborate. ‘Boy With Luv’ is still as good as it was in 2019 when it released. It simply never gets old and is one of our favorite BTS collaborations with a western artist they’ve done.
Harry Styles – ‘Golden’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Harry Styles” song=”Golden”]
Where do you sign up to spend a summer with Harry Styles in this exact location? Asking for a friend, of course. This song is just so bright, happy, and makes us want to bask in the sun. We simply can’t wait for all the adventures we will have this summer with this song playing in the background. And in all honesty, we could have put the entire Fine Line album on this list.
Corinne Bailey Rae – ‘Put Your Records On’
[apple_music_ad artist=”Corinne Bailey Rae” song=”Put Your Records On”]
This is the blueprint. It’s the summer song. There isn’t a single other track probably in the world that perfectly feels like summer in music form. We can’t help but smile while we are listening to the sweet sounds of Corinne Bailey Rae. Walking through a field with this blasting or just at a backyard BBQ with family and friends is the ultimate space to play this incredible track.
