Fall in love with ‘Juliette’ with Slush Puppy!

Alt-pop music fans– we have a treat for you! Slush Puppy, a 19-year-old up-and-coming singer, songwriter, and producer just dropped his first single of 2021. The song, ‘Juliette’, also just so happens to be the lead single from his upcoming EP coming later this year. We here at The Honey Pop are huge fans of Slush Puppy and this song is no exception. Let’s talk about it, shall we?

‘Juliette’ hits all the right marks with being an angry song about falling in love with someone you can’t be with. The song is about loving a glamorized version of someone, which we think everybody has been through at some time or another. Falling in love with an idealized version of someone really hurts in the end, and Slush Puppy hits the nail on the head about what it feels like. As a song, it’s very smart. It starts out mellow and gets increasingly more alternative and angry as it goes on (not unlike falling in and out of a crush like this) and we’re absolutely living for it.

“We romanticize people and build them up in our head so much that we catch feelings without really knowing them. We only see people’s highlights on social media and it is so easy to think that the person you see online is an accurate representation irl. This song is about putting someone on a pedestal and becoming obsessed with the “best version” of them and basking in their perfection without really seeing any of their flaws.”
