Have you heard of Saint Bodhi? If you haven’t, then you are truly missing out! Saint Bodhi is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and rapper hailing from Los Angeles, CA. From an early age, Bodhi knew she had a knack for storytelling. She has worked with some huge names in the hip hop and R&B world and has built an impressive resume.
Although she has worked with Beyonce, A$AP Rocky, Jaden Smith, and Tinashe, Bodhi is ready to venture out and have a solo career of her own. She has signed with Def Jam Records and released her debut record with them just last year.
Our Favorite Saint Bodhi Songs
Now that you have been introduced to Saint Bodhi, we are excited to tell you about our favorite released tracks from her debut album. Bodhi released her album, Mad World, back in 2020, and it has some absolute jams on it that we think you are going to love!
‘FlowerChild’ is the opening track on the Mad World album and was the first single released. The song is about Bodhi’s life growing up in South Central. From the get-go, we can see Bodhi’s strong storytelling skills as she paints the picture of what life was like for her growing up in South Central. The internal dialogue throughout the song showcases Bodhi’s fight for survival in a very chaotic environment. The average listener might never know what it was like for those growing up in those conditions, but Bodhi was able to shine a light and tell her truth.
‘Like That Bitch’ + ‘Gold Revolver’
Like the other songs on the album, Bodhi has shown that she knows how to create an incredible song that is catchy AF. Both ‘Life That Bitch’ and ‘Gold Revolver’ have a catchy beat and lyrics. We can picture ourselves with the windows down and blasting these songs as we drive down the highway.
“Woke up feeling like that bitch, every day I get that check, I’m the shit. I know you know my name”
The last song that we want to mention is ‘Pray.’ The song comes in as number four on the album, and we think it’s the perfect spot for it. ‘Pray’ also speaks on Bodhi’s life in South Central and the things that she had to do to survive. She also speaks on the thoughts she had running through her head when this was all happening around her. And, although we cannot relate to the experience she went through, we are so appreciative that she was able to share her story and truth with us.
“My patience’s running thin… I’m trynna calm down, I don’t wanna end up in the pen. Fucking mood swings, I need to change my medicine”
Now that we have shared some of our favorite songs from Saint Bodhi’s debut album, we highly recommend you all go and check out the album on your favorite streaming platform. You are not going to regret it! Also, be on the lookout for new music coming later in 2021, we truly believe that this is just the beginning!
