Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Reaches RIAA Status

Queen’s legendary song, Bohemian Rhapsody, has reached rare Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Diamond Status with more than 10 Million US sales!

Queen’s Astronomic Acomplishments

After over four decades since its release, the iconic Bohemian Rhapsody continues to reach impressive milestones, with this being the latest in a long line of incredible achievements. Get ready for the long list!

It was Queen’s first Top 10 hit in the US, it went to No. 1 in the UK for nine consecutive weeks, a record at the time, and then returned to the charts again in 1991. Considering how insanely amazing the song is, we can’t be surprised! It also was named the most-streamed song of the 20th century, and its music video recently passed one billion views on YouTube! Making history as the first pre-1990’s video to reach one billion views on the platform. Go off, Queen!

In 2004, the song joined the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, and Freddie Mercury’s stunning vocal performance was named by the readers of Rolling Stone magazine as the best in rock history – as it should be.

With the neverending list of awards and records, it is no surprise that Bohemian Rhapsody is still known by every household across the world decades later. If you play the song anywhere, everyone around you is almost guaranteed to sing along. Unless, of course, they live under a rock and not the good kind.

Queen is now the first British band to ever win the RIAA Diamond song award. We’re in literal awe. No wonder they are called Queen. They are practically royalty!

This is incredible news. At times like this, I have to pinch myself to be sure it’s real.

If you still can’t get enough of Bohemian Rhapsody all of these years later, firstly – taste, secondly, you should check out the band’s fun blockbuster compilation! Platinum Collection, Vol. 1-3. It’s certified 5X Platinum and hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 (yes, another two achievements!). The collection features many more iconic tracks that you definitely would listen to with your parents, like Another One Bites The Dust, Under Pressure, We Will Rock You, and so many more. We encourage you to put on this album, change into your most 70’s outfit, and rock out.

It’s a wonderful and gratifying thought to know the song has reached out and connected with so many people! We thank you all…onwards.

Following on from the mind-blowing milestone, the band has also surprised us all with a year-long weekly YouTube series Queen The Greatest – a celebration of Queen’s Golden Jubilee that highlights 50 of the greatest moments from the Queen story so far. Beginning with the March 19 first episode, Keep Yourself Alive. For those who are stuck inside due to COVID, this will give your weeks some serious meaning.

We love the nostalgic feeling of the series, and the first episode is so informative! The band gives us neat facts on the groovy song, Keep Yourself Alive, written by the genius Brian May! They discuss the ironic lyrics and the excellent promo video along with it. Queen’s got fanatics, lucky for you, you can watch and learn about the fan-favorite here:

With five successful decades to dive into, the series of weekly exclusives will leave you loaded! We hope you are too!

Queen is still unsurprisingly one of the most popular bands in the world today, passing generations of fans again and again, with the same, maybe even more, popularity and love.

The band introduced new and never seen music and style that made them so easy to stan! With Freddie Mercury identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community, it had given fans someone to relate to and look up to, especially with all the milestones he achieved (and is still achieving). The band never stopped trying to get their work out there when they first formed – their passion reflects in their music and writing, which makes them so loveable and inspiring.

Their name was even furthered after the incredible global success of their Academy Award-winning biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody, which tells the insane story of the band’s career and quickly became the highest-grossing music biopic in history! If you have not seen it, drop what you are doing and watch it now – do it!

We loved the movie and how well the amazing actor, Rami Malek, played our beloved Freddie.

Following the rare award, Queen has also released their first game, Queen: Rock Tour! Here at The Honey POP, we can’t stop playing. We’re probably playing it as you read this. If you want to feel like you are part of the band, you can download the game on the App Store and Google Play here.
