The Lathums Serenade Their Fans on ‘Oh My Love’

Searching for beautiful indie ballads to serenade your loved one? The Lathums have the perfect romantic song for you. The four-piece from the Greater Manchester area of England, are keeping the romance alive on ‘Oh My Love’, a song about growing up with our mutual feelings.

The Northern Touch

The Lathums touch gold wherever they go! 2020 was an incredible year for the band and their successes continue. From appearing on Later With Jools Holland to being honored with a spot on the BBC Sound of 2021 list, and from being signed to a major label, to making the top spots on the UK vinyl chart twice, all we can say is their hard work is paying off. The northern class heroes have created a gem reminiscent of Merseyside’s The Coral (no surprises the band went to Liverpool’s Parr Studio with James Skelly for some sessions) or the delicate ballad side of Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys. Let’s get the summer vibes with some sunflower rhymes! The calming sounds floating like sea waves, the love and the beauty, you got all of this in ‘Oh My Love’.

The Growth to Maturity

There is no need to be negative when we’ve lost someone. It may be harsh and it may be painful, but writing is the best medicine. The Lathums frontman, Alex Moore, started to write this poetic ode while he was only 16, following difficult times. The chorus represents that aesthetic as a reminder that we have to think about the others near us too. “Time is weak and demanding of me/It’ll crumble at your fingertips/If you want to be happy then happy you will”.

Our broken hearts are crying! But never mind, the delicate guitar strums comfort our soul. ‘Oh My Love’ is that breath of fresh air. Melancholic, it’s a message of hope for all the brokenhearted. How could we still be alive? Find the tiny positives, and added together, you’ll all feel better. If this song isn’t enough and you need to see more, we suggest the official video with the bopping choreography here. Or you can watch the lyric video. It is so joyful that it instantly put a smile on our faces here at The Honey POP, with all the flowers and sunshine-like colours. Watch it below.

‘Oh My Love’ is out now and it’s clearly our big discovery of the week at THP headquarters. Get your hands on this superb and comforting song on the platform of your choice here. And if you are lucky and live in the UK, catch their music live on their summer tour. Get your tickets here!
