Okay so, first off let’s mention how you know a MARINA song just by her voice. Her voice always stands out and rightfully so. The way she sings and curves her voice with certain words, wow. But now let’s also talk about her lyrics and just how clever those lyrics could be. Such as with ‘Purge The Poison’ it has so many lyrics that just make you think and that stick with you. Such as, “Need to purge the poison, show us our humanity / All the bad and good, racism and misogyny / Nothing’s hidden anymore, capitalism made us poor / God, forgive America for every single war.” In the track, MARINA mentions everything that has been going on in the world, as she also does over on her socials. She makes the song sound happy but has such deep lyrics, which is what she is known for and always so good at.

You can find where to stream the track, here. Or, if you want you could check out the music video below because it’s really something you don’t want to miss!

To celebrate MARINA’s newest release and the upcoming Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land, album release, we decided to introduce you to some of our other fav MARINA tracks, that give off the same feelings as ‘Purge The Poison.’ Also known as MARINA songs with honest lyrics about life. Let’s begin!

‘Man’s World’

This one is pretty self-explanatory. ‘Man’s World’ is about the reality of living as a woman today. Also telling others to realize that we are living different lives. This track is also off her upcoming album Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land.

“Maybe it is time, time you comprehend / The world that you live in, ain’t the same one as them.”

‘To Be Human’

‘To Be Human’ is one of our favorites and also one of Marina’s favs. The track is about trying to navigate your way through life and also about the way humanity currently is. Much like ‘Purge The Poison.’

“All the people living in, living in the world today / Reunited by our love, reunited by our pain.”

‘Seventeen’

The real meaning behind ‘Seventeen’ is actually up for discussion. There are so many theories on what it is about. But from what we could say, it could be about not taking crap from everyone and speaking your mind. Also if you really love this song, there are three versions of it, so make sure to check them all out! We’ve included the live performance here, because it just slaps!

“Bet you wish I couldn’t speak / ‘Cause when I do, you know / I tell you why you appear weak”

‘Enjoy Your Life’

Now onto ‘Enjoy Your Life.’ In this Marina sings about knowing you may face problems in the world and you may be worrying about problems that aren’t there. And it’s all a waste of time. It’s better

“Cause your worst days, they are over / So enjoy your life.”
